Ray_T 591 Posted October 1, 2016 I'm thinking they would have already, which makes me think either he didn't fail or he knew he would fail so maybe he ducked into rehab to avoid the test. If he hasn't failed a test, he is as far as I know still able to return this season. Maybe he did this to force the Brown's hand into dropping him so he could go to a contender. That's an awfully risky way to get a team to drop you. Cleveland may drop you, but another team may not be inclined to sign you. so he risks his career in a ploy to change teams? I'm not buying it. mobb_deep 917 Posted October 1, 2016 I refuse to drop him from my dynasty team. He can be the honorary captain. That's what I'm gonna do with Romo. Never gonna drop him.
mobb_deep 917 Posted October 1, 2016 Browns homer in my league sent me this: It's more than people think, this is from my insider site "EXCLUSIVE: We're being told that the Josh Gordon situation is more than just a player coming to the recognition that he needs help. Instead, what we've heard (from sources close to the situation) is that Mr. Gordon was nabbed by the TSA attempting to carry pot onto an LA-bound flight. More to come... More.... Gordon entered Cleveland Hopkins Airport via an underground entrance and was escorted to the upper level to pass through security for his flight. He was accompanied by a member of his security detail. A TSA representative on the upper level recognized Gordon and his security from the below ground level just moments prior. Due to the strange nature of Gordon being shuffled through the airport, the TSA pulled Gordon aside, checked his baggage and found what our source tells us was nearly one pound of pot in his possession. Gordon immediately claimed that the pot was not his and pointed out his security detail as being the responsible party... an investigation is active at this time." I call BS. Who brings in pot from Cleveland to LA? That's like traveling from New York to Japan for a slice of pizza. Would make more sense if he was leaving LA with a bag of weed. Cretins 21 Posted October 2, 2016 So what are the odds the Gordon comes back to play for anyone this year? After carrying him over the first few weeks it would be really annoying to drop him and see him go off later in the season on someone else's roster. On the other hand, I could use the roster spot to try and salvage my WR corps. Between this and Allen going down in week one, my supposedly solid group of WRs is reduced to Jeffery and D.Washington supported by a pair of no shows in Hurns and Sharpe. GornFishin' 57 Posted October 2, 2016 So what are the odds the Gordon comes back to play for anyone this year? Almost zero. Could get a further suspension. And need sustained sobriety before anyone takes him seriously.
Cretins 21 Posted October 2, 2016 Ah .. just found an article of interest from a more reliable source (nfl.com): Josh Gordon potentially violated NFL substances of abuse policy http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000713064/article/josh-gordon-potentially-violated-nfl-substances-of-abuse-policy So this could be much bigger. As some theorized he may have failed yet another test that led to this.

brotherbock 349 Posted October 3, 2016 In case anyone is still holding. Per Roto: Suspended WR Josh Gordon remains banned indefinitely until further notice from the NFL. Gordon checked himself into rehab a few days ago after a recent "slip-up" with alcohol. On indefinite suspension, Gordon isn't allowed to drink or do any other drugs. We're no longer going to hold our breath waiting for Gordon to play football again. His off-field life is a mess that needs fixing first.

stonewall 647 Posted October 27, 2016 So, is anyone still holding? I have him in one league with a deep bench. There has been absolutely no word since he entered rehab. Of course, his reinstatement this season was purely conditional......that he not have any issues. Since he "proactively" checked himself into rehab, I can envision a scenario where one day returns, but it is hard to imagine Goodell letting him in this season. Heck, I think I will just drop him for Sammy Watkins, and at least have a chance for some late-season production.

stonewall 647 Posted October 27, 2016 He's indefinitely suspended by the NFL. Yes, which simply means "for an unspecified period of time"
Gepetto 988 Posted October 27, 2016 Yes, which simply means "for an unspecified period of time" Right. My point is he was supposed to unsuspended right before checking himself into the "voluntary" rehab center. So seems the NFL kept him suspended which seems odd if he was cleared to resume his NFL career if he actually simply voluntarily checked himself into rehab, and didn't break some alcohol or drug rule again. Gotcha. The lack of information on this entire scenario is puzzling.

Wouldn't checking yourself into rehab be a good way to avoid a drug test? I mean, leave the poor guy alone, right? He's trying to get well. May be cynical, but the timing of suddenly deciding on rehab seemed suspect.
