it's so far into the season though that you can't really expect him to be effective even, so I'm not confident that a team definitely claims him. and it's not like he's a pure speed guy where you can just plug him in a few plays and tell him to run down the field and catch the ball; he needs to know his routes and have chemistry with his QB for his skill set to be maximized. He's certainly not going to be fantasy relevant if somebody does happen to pick him up.

plus, if he's claimed (vs. him going unclaimed and signed as an outright FA), does the new team assume his old contract? He makes almost $500k per game, so I don't think a team would want top pay that for his limited productivity (if they even have the cap space at all), plus legal baggage.

I don't know what to expect.

The Hawks are not suffering from a lack of wide receivers. : )

The Steelers have enough issues with substance guys (Le'Veon Bell, Martavis Bryant) that I'm fairly certain they won't want to take on another PR nightmare.

Awful year. Injury prone. Would ask for more than he's worth. And he's got a major alcohol issue since college.

I can see him being done.

had issues at ND but apparently got cleaned up. but when guys fall off the wagon, it's usually a long fall. from the sound of it, this was an ugly arrest too.

In dynasty I am curious. He has proven potential. He will start for. Team next year

Isn't proven potential an oxymoron? Not sure what everyone sees in this guy. It's not like receiver is a position where it takes a few years for the cream to rise. At some point a player is what he is.

How about Pittsburgh...if he doesn't check himself into treatment.

Why would the Steelers want another overrated receiver? With Sammie Coates and Eli Rodgers you'd think they would have enough over estimation of talent for the next few years.

Let's be clear, there's a difference between over estimation of talent and hype. Rogers was an undrafted free agent, to say expectations were low is accurate. He got a lot of hype earlier this year when Ben talked him up. Coates is a 3rd round pick with exceptional size and measurables, so there were expectations. Still talking about a guy who was averaging 15+ a game over the first 5 games before he fell off a cliff. Now he's in the doghouse and not playing. He might qualify as overrated.

Sammie Coates has broken fingers and so barely plays, so I don't think it's fair to criticize him so much.

As a Steelers fan, I think the issues with Sammie now run beyond the broken fingers. He's barely in the game these days. Cobi Hamilton is getting many, many more plays on offense. If Wheaton or Heyward-Bey were in/healthy, we'd likely never see Sammie Coates again this season.

Eli Rogers overrated?

Yeah. He was hailed as the next Antonio Brown. I'd say that's about as overrated as it gets.

That's overhyped...Rogers is an undrafted player playing his 1st season. I never heard Mel Kiper Jr. compare him to Antonio Brown during 2015 NFL Draft because his name was never mentioned.

Floyd should get another shot next year provided he's cleaned up. No idea if he'll be willing to take a one year prove it deal, but that's all he'll get imo. I bought low on him in a couple leagues this year as I envisioned him doing better somewhere else next year. I'll hold and wait it out for the next few months. If he's not generating positive buzz next spring he'll be part of roster cut downs.

Did not know that Mel Kiper was the end all be all of player assessment

For ARI to cut ties, imo is an indication he has an issue.

It also means, they suck as an organization.

Hopefully Floyd can stomach time with Cris Carter this offseason and focus on an assumed deamon. Clean up his life. It can be done.

Floyd in NE.

Hm. What kind of impact do peeps predict?

Maybe a couple big plays down the stretch and in the playoffs. But I imagine he will be a pretty limited contributor coming on at this stage in the season.

I think it's basically a tryout for signing him to a contract when he's a free agent. Probably won't cost a ton of money for a former first rounder with some pretty desirable size/speed traits. They want to kick the tires first though

Arizona cut ties for 2 reasons:

1) he got a DWI and it is my understanding that its not his first.

2) and more importantly, he has underperformed in a bad way.

If he has been difficult in the dressing room as well (which may or may not be the case) I'd say that's more than enough good reasons to kick him to the curb.

Yes, I think he can turn it around, but it sounds like a team either needs to put up with all the other crap, or they need to find a way to manage it.

As the pats have a history of turning players around, he may have found the right home.

The pats are point blank in a beautiful way. I'm guessing they pull dudes into a room and say 'if you want to be in an organization that wins 70% of the time, do what we say and don't be a problem. If you can't do that, we'll banish you and win without you. And even if you're good for us, we may move on from you at some point. Questions?'.

and he was going to be gone in 3 weeks anyway since he's a free agent. that's all this does, expedites the inevitable by 3 weeks.

it's not like he and AZ had a long term relationship that they're severing here.

and they get the compensatory pick I believe if they don't retain him.
