Records in sports that won't be broke.

Recommended Posts

2:24 Belmont Stakes, Secretariat.

This one is just ...odd because....things....almost everything has gotten faster. Everyone, everything, except horses at 1.5 miles apparently.

This would be like some dude in the the 1972 Olympics running a 9.65 100m dash, and everything in between and up til now being around 9.8-9.9 seconds.

I know ed said not to include baseball, but Cy Young's 500+ wins is the safest record in all of sports.

I think you mean desegregation. But, your elementary grasp of the English language makes your statement none stupider.

Sounds like you just ended your own thread. That record won't even get sniffed.

No doubt - as safe as it gets.

Joe D's hitting streak

He also had a 61-game streak in the minors earlier in his career...

I'd say Wilt's 100 in a single game is safe.

This is a sports thread :nono:

Sorry, I saw a few baseball players and golfers mentioned and thought it would qualify.

At least those guys stand up to 'perform'.

I'm not getting into this debate again, but if a golfer or baseball player qualifies a driver definitely does. They exert more energy per hour than either, the fact that they are sitting means nothing. Have you seen the fat focks that play baseball? That sh!t is a joke.

I might give you golf. That's barely a sport. And those who play certainly aren't athletes, but baseball players certainly are.

I guarantee you you could go 9 innings in the MLB (with ease) way before you could do a 500 or even 300 mile race. I mean the hardest part about baseball has nothing to do with actual game time, it is spring training.

I could too. That's not the point. Unless you're a DH, you don't just bat. The best players are also great in the field. That takes athleticism.

It takes physical exertion to mow my lawn, too. But I don't consider myself an athlete when I do it. hth

If you were competing against other mowers to get it done the fastest, it would be a sport. Got it?
