cmh6476 759 Posted June 13, 2017 A lot could play into this one; if you happened to be sitting right in front of the speakers, indoor vs outdoor, etc. Mine would probably be a Live (the band) concert I saw probably around 2000. This wasn't one I expected to go to, a friend and I were at a mall and Tickets for Less had a store and always had event tickets for sale. We were looking in the case and the guy hangs up the phone and says well hell, you guys want to go to this concert cause someone just cancelled on me. We brushed him off then as we're walking around the mall kept thinking about it, talked ourselves into it and went back and bought the tix. But it was at a place called the Uptown Theater in KC, and it wasn't too packed, as it was during their When Dolphins Cry tour so the buzz of Live had wore off a bit by then. We were standing right in front of their sonic wall of sound, and even though the venue was small I don't think they left any speakers in the trailer. It was so damn loud we were driving home with the windows down in the truck and it dawned on us we couldn't hear the wind blowing as we were driving

Maybe 8-10 years ago. loud band, small venue, ears ringing.i was listening to a local radio show about them playing at a similar venue to what I described with live; historic theater with ownership concerned about decor falling off the wall. I think they gave them a 150 dB threshold, and the band said fock that, lemmy's monitor is over 150 dB
Electric Mayhem 35 Posted June 13, 2017 I saw Mr. Big at a small venue in the late 80's. It was ungodly loud, and I have been to my fair share of loud metal shows to use as reference points.

Metallica inside is damn loud...but Ive mostly seen them in outdoor venues. I've seen Metallica close to 60 times now, but I think the loudest was the first I saw with newsted at the poughkeepsie civic center, had third row right in front of Kirk. Was a great show as well played for 2 and a half hours
mobb_deep 917 Posted June 13, 2017 Sepultura, Ministry and Helmet 1993ish. Ears were ringing for a couple days. Ministry was especially loud, with all those industrial samples.
Strike 3,999 Posted June 13, 2017 F-ing last night. Saw Alice Cooper. Damn was it loud. I may have been to a louder concert but if so I can't remember when. Was awesome though. Highly recommend Alice if you haven't seen him before.

titans&bucs&bearsohmy! 2,745 Posted June 13, 2017 The girl and I are moving next week to a new city. Right across the border from Hong Kong. So I figured I'd look and see what concerts are coming. I saw that ed sheerhan is playing in November. I thought "she really likes him and has probably never been to a concert. She'd enjoy that." So I looked at tickets. For two general admission standing only tickets it was a little under $600 (us). Jesus focking Christ! Fock that! That is ridiculous. I wouldn't pay that to see anyone play. Herbivore 911 Posted June 14, 2017 311 at the Hammerstein in NYC over 10 years ago. And System of a Down at Great Woods in Mansfield Mass. Though both times I think it was proximity to the Amps.
Thornton Melon 544 Posted June 14, 2017 The Kinks at Wang Center in Boston ~Dec 1986. They always had the reputation of playing loud, I found out why that night.
cbfalcon 824 Posted June 15, 2017 We have a small club in Dallas called Trees. Here is a pic. http://www.treesdallas.com/files/2015/07/1b788b7854361c588f9cdba0adb8b7e2-77027113c46fe8d5329c7c3f52c7e26e.jpg Anyway, I think it was the summer of 95.... The Toadies were doing a run as Trees house band, every Friday and it was $5....The album Rubberneck had just come out and it was that sweet spot time when they were huge in DFW, yet the rest the country hadn't quite caught on yet. Just cuz, here is maybe my favorite song to hear live on that album...pure adrenaline...and that whole alum was like that.. Those shows were all packed, crazy rough mosh pits, hot as hell in the Texas summer....and loud. Anyway, I don't have any one show, but that run of shows is when we started grabbing napkins, tearing off a square inch, sticking in our mouths for a moment, before balling it up into makeshift ear plugs.....I called my best friend a p&ssy when I saw him do it, but when my ears were ringing for the next couple of days, I followed suit going forward.
