You should put together a test. But maybe conservatives tend to appear more in lock step because they keep it simple? If you start with keeping the government at arms length as much as possible it tends to lead to more straight forward reasoning. Low taxes and sticking to the constitution doesn't present the variables that the lefts want of the government controlling everything and social engineering do. There are social Conservatives; fiscal Conservatives, and social and fiscal Conservatives. There are the same categories for liberals. There are moderates; there are progressives.

 

But the common strain amongst all is whether or not their ideologies are based upon fundamental principles. If they are, their beliefs are going to be commonly found amongst a large group. If they're not, they won't, and they can be categorized as radicals.

 

Radicals differ tremendously. It's why we see so many radicals on the left also at each other's throats regularly. It's why we also see so many radical Muslim factions at their throats regularly.

Within my immediate circle of friends, family, and acquaintances, the political affilations and opinions on social issue vary greatly. There are very few that I could pigeon hole as strictly conservative or liberal.

Until these requests were ignored; until whoever moderates here didn't take any action at all, and until I realized that there was no point in avoiding insults with those interested in simply throwing them.

 

So I participated. I am absolutely confident that I'm at least as good at doing so as I am at anything else, so that's what I did.

 

But that doesn't mean that I prefer it. I find it juvenile, not constructive, and as tiring as anything else could be, after awhile.

Not to derail this thread's lovely and substantive topic, but I looked into Ethereum (and Litecoin) and was fascinated with it, and bought a decent amount of both (ETH @ 286 and LTC @ 54). Both are up.

 

BTC I've noticed took a substantial hit, down below 6k briefly. Is your sense of BTC that of a crypto-currency that has jumped the shark, in terms of an investment? It seems like one could set up trading ranges on all three of these and make a killing with buy/sell tactics.
