nzoner 936 Posted January 7, 2018 if all you know of Springsteen is Born In The USA and Dancing In the Dark, then no wonder you think he sucks. You nailed that Although I hate him using his platform to preach(will not ever pay to see him live again nor will I listen to certain songs) I cannot deny the man is a poet and has written some of the greatest lyrics ever.Jungleland,Thunder Road,Johnny 99,Darkess On The edge Of Town,The River........the list is almost endless. Its influence cannot be ignored. I was torn here because Blondie had origins in the punk world, which was another whole thing going on in the 80s. But theyre not truly a punk band and their music is more new wave pop. This one song was clearly rap though, and it made a big splash in the pop world. But I'd never liked Rapture which is out of my usual rotation, so I went to see what you were talking about. The song sucks for the two minutes, the visuals of Debbie's hotness save it; I could watch her read the phone book. What amazed me is that when she starts rapping about two minutes in, it actually improves the song even though the lyrics are stupid and pointless. I'd certainly pick a different Blondie song but yeah, you're right, she is rapping in Rapture and the description under the video describes it as the first rap song aired on MTV so it has historical significance rivaling the first guy in the jungle that buttfocked a monkey and contracted AIDS.
