I've been thinking of taking it for a while now, but nobody seems inclined to go for Petty yet. That's the one I was talking about earlier. I couldn't believe it either. I picked Whitesnake - Here I Go Again when Still of the Night, where not as popular in teh mainstream is BY FAR a more kick ass song. When I was a kid my son's age, a lot of the dads around were Vietnam vets. Now I'm the war vet, ha, although what we went through in the Gulf War was nothing like what those guys went through. Anyway, yeah, in the lyrics the guy goes through life and nobody gives a and his 'dead man's town' community sounds quite familiar to a kid who grew up in South Macomb. They were waiting for me, busting my balls. I told them to hold on till I read the lyrics. Nothing in that song is anti-police. It's as misunderstood as Born In the USA is. It does bring up the Diallo shooting, but it doesn't say anything disparaging about the cops, just about the situation. Let's face it, guy got shot at 41 times. There were going to be things said. The version with Tom Morello on guitar is really good. The few times he's played it in concerts that I have been at , I went and took a leak and got some beers.
