Big Guy 1,414 Posted January 26, 2018 I won't deny it's overplayed but it's iconic nonetheless and actually speaking of overplayed, that could be said on at least 80% of the songs in this draft. agreed on both points

vuduchile 1,945 Posted January 26, 2018 I think I've now figured out now why I'm the only one who prefers by far the studio/high definition official video version of these songs while everybody else likes to see live performance versions. I like the live versions for 2 reasons: 1. As nzoner and others have said, so many of these songs are overplayed. Ive heard them so many times already. A live version is more interesting to me. 2. I like to observe the raw talent or lack thereof, as the case may be. Even before auto tune, there were tons of effects and layered tracks used to make songs sound better. Its nearly impossible to duplicate certain songs live with only a 4-5 piece band.

jerryskids 6,890 Posted January 26, 2018 Alrighty then... I've got a lot of groups who were my favorites who I haven't picked yet, because "I can choose so many songs..." Plus some of my favorites are maybe more obscure. Well, it's time to start picking. I'm a huge fan of progressive rock and it doesn't get more progressive-rock than a 20+ minute song about a dystopian future, AND as a bonus is is based somewhat on a book by Ayn Rand. :hyper: 8.04 2112 - Rush Side one of the album is occupied by the 20-minute futuristic science fiction song "2112". The seven-part track is based on a story by Peart, the band's primarily lyricist, who credits "the genius of Ayn Rand" in the album's liner notes. Rand, a Russian-born, Jewish-American novelist and inventor of the philosophy of objectivism, wrote the 1937 dystopian fictional novella Anthem, the plot of which bears several similarities to 2112, and all members read the book.
