Just spent most of the night at an Animal ER

Recommended Posts

Parents went out of town for the night and had a girl that works at my moms school (36C) look after their dog (6 yr old shitzu). Im at my house when I get a call from the girl saying I need to come over there fast. She was acting hysterical so when I asked what was wrong she said the dog got off the leash, ran into the road, and got hit by a car. So I rushed over there and found the girl carrying the dog back up to the house. Dog was limping a little but overall wasnt too bad. Still needed to take her to the ER cause I was worried about something being broke or internal bleeding. Apparently the car that hit the dog didnt hit her with the tire but with the front bumper and the dog rolled under the car so that probably saved her. She said the car didnt stop or tap its brakes at all. Just kept going. There were some kids and an adult walking on the sidewalk in front of her when it happened (dog started barking and wanted to run after the kids thats why her leash came off). After it happened, apparently the kids and the adult didnt even go over there to see if the dog was alright (by this time the girl said she was hysterical). They just kept walking after they saw it happen.

Anyway, closest dam animal ER was at the opposite ass end of the beach so it took us roughly 50 minutes to get to it. Dog started perking up a bit but not too much. Couple X-rays and tests later found out nothing was broken and no internal bleeding (as far as they could see for tonight). However, the dogs left eye was real squinty, really red, and started getting really cloudy. Vet said she could be blind in it but needed a specialist to examine it. That dog is my dads baby so he was freaking out a little but now I think hes ok. Ended up staying there for over 6 hours and it wasnt even that busy

TL;DR Dads dog got hit by a car. Took to animal er 50 minutes away. Stayed there for over 6 hours even though it wasnt that busy.

Hope the dog gets better and doesnt have a vision problem.

I dont believe the dog sitter. MAYBE the car doesnt stop, but there is no way a family and kids keep walking after this happens. Curiosity and nosiness alone would have them helping/checking on what happened.

Good luck

Same thing happened to my dog 3 years ago. Got off the leash and ran straight into the road. I saw the whole thing. The good news is that it was a SUV that hit him so it sits higher than a normal car and my dog is a schnoodle so he got hit by the bottom of the front bumper and bounced underneath like a ball and squirted out the side. I have no idea how he managed to not get squished by the rear tire. ###### driver just kept on driving without stopping.

Anyways, the dog comes running back to me on the sidewalk and I scooped him up and ran back to the house. While doing that I slipped on the ice (it was winter) like an idiot. Anyways, as my wife and I are driving (I'm holding the dog) to the vet I notice blood dripping down my hand and I'm like "Oh ######, this isn't good". I thought for sure the dog was a goner or going to need some major surgery. We get him to the vet and same as your situation - no internal bleeding, no broken bones only some roadrash. Thank God, my kids would have been devastated.

Turns out the blood was from me. I cut my arm pretty good when I slipped on the ice.

That dog is one lucky SOB. Literally.

Blame the trolls. Im doing nothing more than giving him a short sentence answer.

And the dog seems to be hurting a lot worse today and hardly putting any weight on her back legs. X-rays showed no breaks but my dad is going to take her to the vet tomorrow. Still not sure if shes blind in her left eye or not cause the ophthalmologist wasnt working on the weekend. Dad might take her to him if the vet she normally sees cant tell if shes blind or not. At least shes alive though. My dad would be extremely upset if she died cause he loved that little dog to death

Im confused ... are they both the same boob size or did you short us on information?

Technically, the way that's written, it's the school that's 36C.
