Frozenbeernuts 1,652 Posted September 3, 2018 I get smoked on week 1 every year. Oh well. I see 3 games too juicy to pass up Steelers - 6 @ Cleveland Bears +8 @ Green Bay Bengals +3 @ Indy Give me all 3 road teams. The Browns blow, and Todd Haley, the new OC in Cleveland, was talking shlt about Ben and the Steelers. Expect a shalacking week 1 The Bears are a better team than the Packers at every position besides qb. 8 points is way too many. The last 4 new head coaches for the Bears all beat the Packers their first meeting. Nagy and his OC from Oregon are new at their positions. Hard to game plan that. Cincy is just the better team. Their dline is going to chew up Indys oline. Luck already banged up. Indy is piss poor on both sides of the ball except for a few guys
jrokh 569 Posted September 3, 2018 Cleveland Defense is pretty good, actually. Seems like Vegas has yet to adjust to the new Browns Mojo, I'll take them and 6 points at Home. Tyrod will keep them in the game. Bears D will take some time to Gel, A-Rod has been Chomping at the bit for this game, I'll take the Pack-8, and the other one I have no opinion. Good Luck! worm 34 Posted September 3, 2018 I thought Rams -3.5 was a lock even before the Mack trade. I also like Cheifs +3 and Falcons +3.

Browns mojo? I thought their mojo was overstated already. Their defense has talent, and if Haley hadn't smack talked the Steelers I wouldn't have bet on the game. It goes against history with Ben being a different qb on the road. If the Steelers are going to really get it up for a single game this season, this is the game imo. jrokh 569 Posted September 3, 2018 Steelers were sluggish week 1 last year as well with the same Bell scenario but hey it's your money bet whoever you like.
Frozenbeernuts 1,652 Posted September 3, 2018 The Bears win total for the season is sitting at 7, up from 6.5. The nice part is that the odds went from - 155 to - 130. I put some money on them to win more than 7 games, to win the division, and to make the playoffs

cousinal111 57 Posted September 3, 2018 True story from about 15 years ago. Played an 8 team parlay, all Money Lines that ended up paying out 1,500 for risking 100. I was 7-0 going into Sunday Night with the Cowboys playing at Houston against some team called the Texans who had a rookie QB. You know the rest... Good thing I hedged it by putting 300 on the Texans at (+250). My instinct picks right now are Denver (-2.5) & Chicago (+7.5).
seafoam1 1,879 Posted September 4, 2018 With the changes in the betting public, where are you guys playing these days? I am unfortunately living in Jersey, but I expect the gambling options to come in full force sooner than later.

American Chewy 98 Posted September 4, 2018 A lot of states aren't ready yet with defining how sports betting will be allowed. Though I would have guessed new jersey would have been one of the first to be up and running. Mississippi apparently opened their sportsbook this week. seafoam1 1,879 Posted September 4, 2018 Yeah, the actual rollout of online betting has been very slow as operators and regulators work to get products able to launch. Creating physical sportsbooks come into play somehow and getting licensed by the division of gaming takes time. So it will all roll out one day, but as for right now, I haven't heard much else other than things are in the works. I think they all know that the whole state doesn't want to drive to Atlantic city (and won't have to) to place a bet on whoever is playing the Giants that week. Web sites will rule but I don't see it moving too fast into market. I could be wrong as I have not been following it that closely, maybe it just comes in one fell swoop? Not sure. The state of New Jersey believes in it and wants the income bad. But I'm sure they want it to come without constant legal action or loopholes in the law, so they are still putting things in place I think. Or just making it tedious to get. When I first moved to New Jersey, the law forced me to pay for a 4 year registration for my car. Even if I was only planning to stay for 1 year.

SpenceToons 70 Posted September 5, 2018 No clue how legit these are, but they just dropped this month I believe. https://www.draftkings.com/25-free-bet-exclusive I clicked on the link and the betting situation it featured was tonight's game. A "moneyline", I guess, ATL +110, PHI -134. I'm experienced with DFS but a newb to sports betting. What happens to a one dollar bet placed at either of these lines if it wins and if it loses ? Also, what's Draft King's cut off of my dollar ? Thanks.

Thanks. A dollar on the falcons ML (which is a bet where they need to win the game outright) would pay $1.10. A dollar on Philly to win would pay roughly $.75. Typically you lay $1.34 to win $1 in that situation. Draft kings vig on ML bets is the difference in payouts if you were to play both sides. Nearly $.25 on every $1 bet if they balance their action properly.

seafoam1 1,879 Posted September 7, 2018 Bookie. Always have. Still reliable. I have lived in the dregs of areas in this country at times in my life, as well as middle tier areas and very nice areas, and I always had a competitive nature and enjoyed my share of gambling in the past, but I have to admit, I have never in my life come across a bookie. When I hear the work 'bookie', my mind always drifts to old movies I have seen from like the 70's and 80's. Police shows and such. You know, the bad guy that breaks the legs of down on their luck addicted gamblers that can't tell their wives that their bank account is empty. So funny to me.
