Really thought The Rat Pack would've made the above Rolling Stone list.

What's Love Got To Do With It and Ray were top shelf. Jersey Boys was such a great Broadway show that most felt let down by the movie, but upon reflection it's pretty good. The Doors was good even though I don't like their music that much and Sid and Nancy was interesting but hard to watch at times because Chloe Webbs voice was really annoying.  I'd have to go with WLGTDWI.

Just watched the Bobby Darin story. Somewhere beyond the sea. Starring Kevin Spacey. It sucked.

Speaking of which, has anybody ever heard from Tom Hulce after he did Amadeus?

As far as it goes, I think Jamie Foxx absolutely nailed his portrayal of Ray Charles. I honestly can't think of a better performance in that genre.

Regarding the queen movie, I heard that in the past, the gay liberal community hated the fact that movies like that wood make the character study all about his or her sexuality.

Now, apparently the pink hat Jussie Smollett crew is pissed off that there wasn't enough gaiety in this film.

Hated Queen as a kid. Hate them now. Hated boy george back then before I even knew what gay was really. Thanks for confirming my hatredcomes naturally. Saw that Freak Show on some talk show little while ago and I still would go totally Matt Shepherd on the guy.

At least the queen guy had the decency to die of AIDS.

Off the top of my head my 3 favorite performances were

Jamie Foxx-Ray

Gary Busey-Buddy Holly

Rami Malek-Freddie Mercury

Coal Miner’s Daughter was the best movie IMO.  Even though I don’t love the music, the story was great, the acting was top notch and Spacek was a great singer.

Walk the line. Jocaim Phoenix did a good job as johnny, and reese Witherspoon was great as June.

Got to disagree there boss. Joaquin Phoenix is a walking freak Show. And whatever role he was playing was simply an extension of his own effed up neuroses and psychoses. But if you've ever wants tanning old interviews or videos of Johnny Cash, Joaquin wasn't even close to any of that. I think he either is just plain effing nuts. And / or he was trying way way way too hard for an Oscar.

2. And Reese? She was freaking adorable. And incredibly talented. But again, if you look at any old interviews or videos, not only did she bear absolutely no physical resemblance to June Carter Cash, she bore zero resemblance 2 her personality, nature or character.

To wit: when Johnny and June's home in Jamaica was robbed while they were having dinner with friends, June beat the crap out of the robbers. As I recall, threw one down a flight of stairs. She was a tough old mountain Broad. And as far as pretty goes? Maybe a notch above Janis Joplin. But not this dimple faced starlet like Witherspoon was.

I mean, if the idea was to presents a compelling couple to stare at for two and a half hours? Mission accomplished. But they're about as close to June and Johnny as they were to Sid and Nancy.

As a Queen fan I remember thinking well this will be at least an R rating when I first heard of the film being made.Personally I was relieved when I saw the PG rating and thought after seeing it they did a good job of covering Freddie's sexuality without having to show it in depth as they easily could have.I remember from the Queen documentary Days Of Our Lives one of Freddie's friends saying something like,"Freddie attacked the gay scene like David Attenborough taking on a wildlife production."

Amadeus and it’s not close.

I also really liked the Decline if Western Civilization, Sid and Nancy, Some Kind of Monster, 24 Hour Party People and Control.

This.  The Buddy Holly Story gets an honorable mention.

The category is biopic, not documentary, Mr. Edgy.  You keep trying hard though.

I'm surprised nobody has done one on Tupac.

And as much as I can't stand her, J-Ho nailed the Selena role.. It was in fact a pretty good movie.

Decline of Western Civ is a documentary about early west coast hardcore punk.

Some Kind Of Monster is a documentary about Metallica.

Control is a biopic on Joy Division.

24 Hour Party People is a biopic about the manager of Joy Division and the Happy Monday’s and an early promoter of rave culture.

Mall are really good / worth watching if you like that kind of music.

Amadeus and Sid and Nancy are both biopics. Somebody has trouble counting.

Also, how many posts will HT add to this thread without admitting he was wrong?

And considering the edited post, I'm thinking the answer is that it will never be admitted.
