During the first time period that the researchers studied, 1993 to 1997, suicide rates were similar for black and white boys. Suicide was the 14th and 12th leading cause of death among black and white children, respectively, over those years.

However, rates among black boys had overtaken those for white boys by 2003. Between 2008 and 2012, suicide was the ninth leading cause of death among black children, and the 11th among white children.

I would bet that these factors influence the suicide rate more than "diversity" or "politics".

I was in the doctor's office recently and a magazine was in the waiting room called Montana Homes or some such. The homes in Montana were jaw droppingly beautiful. However, I never really thought of Montana as a place for the rich (I know rich people are everywhere). Is it possible that there is a large disparity between rich and poor there? That might cause depression.
