That doesn't make any sense. I have a better one.

You're in a pool wearing swim trunks.

The guy next to you is also wearing swim trunks. He also just happens to be taking a piss.

Your logic regarding masks also applies here. You think you won't get any pee on you because after all you're both wearing cloth.

Wear your magic piece of cloth. Don't forget your goggles and face shield though. You also might want to wear a biohazard suit. But that's probably too far eh?

It’s more like two guys facing eachother and peeing, one is wearing shorts and the other is naked. But yea my original analogy makes sense, they always make sense, I am a master of analogies.

Nah I've seen that meme that doesn't make sense. The virus moves in the air when you expelling your breath. if your going to use a liquid like piss it needs to be another liquid. Apples to apples comparison.

How come Florida has had more cases and less deaths?

They’re actually pretty similar.  They are #3 in cases and #4 in deaths (and also not far apart per million population).  And they’re only ahead of NY in cases because there was way less testing early on when the majority of the cases & deaths were in NY.

Personally I’d prefer everyone just go about normal life pretending the virus doesn’t exist and just dealing with it when you get sick. That’s better than drawing it out over 2 years and tanking the economy and making other things worse. I’d rather get kicked in the nuts once than have my nut flicked every day for a week.

The CDC says the flu is almost nonexistent this year because people are wearing masks and social distancing.

The CDC says Covid-19 is out of control because no-one is wearing masks and socially distancing.

You guys think umbrellas don’t keep you drier in the rain than not having one because people are still getting wet in the rain so they must not work. 😂

You've said this several times.  Comparing umbrellas to respiratory protection may be one of the worst comparisons I've ever seen.

This probably isn’t a horrible analogy, if you’re comparing peeing in a pool while wearing a bathing suit vs being naked.   You’ll still get some piss on you, but if the person peeing is wearing one then a lot of it will get soaked up in his bathing suit.  And I’d rather be wearing a bathing suit in a pool where someone is peeing than not be.  Again, most people aren’t saying masks will STOP it.  But it’s better to have a mask on than not to.

I don’t have you on ignore.  I’m just choosing not to reply to most of your posts.

So you don't get assaulted or because its actually reducing the possibility of a .3 micron virus infecting others?

Because it helps slow down larger droplets which carry the 0.3 micron virus

An analogy doesn’t work like that. We aren’t talking about getting sick, we are talking about getting wet. If you have material between you and the rain you will get less wet. It doesn’t mean no one will ever get wet again or you will stay completely dry, but having an umbrella in the rain you will get less wet. Now extrapolate (that means take what I said and apply it elsewhere) that to the mask debate and you will see the picture I am painting. I don’t need studies or theories to tell me why an umbrella keeps rain off of me more than if I did not have one.

Now we have to carry umbrellas to keep from getting COVID.  When will it stop?!@#

Slow down from what ? Do people actually go around coughing at and on other people in your neck of the woods?

Have you ever asked yourself why we are settling for a solution that won't stop it, and why we aren't developing PPE that will?  We just dusted off the 1918 playbook and are acting like "that's it guys.  It says were supposed to wear masks.  I guess that's what we need to do."

How about if you don't want to get sick, go get a hood that can cover your whole face and let people who don't give a sh¡t do what they want.  We didn't have the technology to do that in 1918, but we certainly do now.  Oh wait, that is too far to go, right?  Another arbitrary line in the sand.

I’m sure some are still getting through, but likely not traveling as far as they would have without the mask.

We’re not, that’s why we developed a vaccine in record time.

They do actually sell stuff like that, but they’re expensive (and no I don’t have one).

It’s not just coughing and sneezing.  Surely you’ve seen people try to blow out candles wearing masks right (and fail with a decent mask)?  Can you see what comes out of your mouth when you try to blow out a candle?

We are.  We just developed a vaccine faster this time because SCIENCE!

The candle thing again?  So the candle obviously doesn't have the volume of air directed at it when wearing a mask.  Duh.  So where does that air go?

Yes. Instead of making millions of people where masks to reduce your chances of getting sick by 25%, if you don't want to get sick, go buy something that actually protects you.

Not true.  Even in NYC with the most restrictions in the state, 95% of schools are open for in-person learning: https://abc7ny.com/nyc-schools-vaccine-covid-health-care-workers/9369124/

In Florida, even though the governor seems to want to force kids to go to school in person (some might say that’s a dictator-ish move), in some counties only about 1/4 have: https://www.sun-sentinel.com/local/schools/fl-ne-students-return-school-ss-prem-20210102-gyunpvkmqjdshpmg44d7ubfw34-story.html

Looks like someone in South Africa mounted a monkey.  Yeah keep getting those vaccine shots.

I think people were asking who thought covid was a giant planned conspiracy right?  Here’s one

Um, I live in NY. Kids go two days a week in most, almost all, of the state. Why? Florida is five days a week. How come private schools can be open 5 days a week? What do public schools have that private schools don’t?

You actually think it was organic? Both its origins and the reaction? Really ?

I’d believe it was intentionally created by China.  But I don’t think it was intentionally released and I certainly don’t think the reaction (around the entire world) had any other purpose other than to prevent the spread of the virus.

At some point we're just gonna have to say it, let the virus do it's thing, and it's just survival of the fittest at that point.

Good luck fat people.

Obviously it’s not a good reason but I’d bet part of the reason is private schools have people paying to go there, so I’m sure public schools are probably more worried about being sued:

To answer your blatantly obvious original question, any differences in policy of course are because of the local governments.

You’re probably not wrong that for people that are afraid, maybe they should be wearing more than a mask (and some are - I actually just came across this that I may get for officiating in the spring if my season happens -  https://boomernaturals.com/collections/adult-face-masks/products/reusable-one-piece-shield-mask?variant=32017567973494). However it’s not like those people aren’t doing anything besides wear a mask.  Those are the people that are likely seeing less people or going out less often to begin with.

But for those that “want” to get sick, should they be denied hospital care?

For the record I say no but I think that’s kinda the issue.  There have been many people that SAY they don’t care if they get covid, but then change their mind when they get hospitalized or worse.  Having all the deniers wear a mask at least some of the time is likely preventing some of them infecting others that also don’t care.

Yeah, that reaction is working great. Not for preventing the spread, but sure did work great for a certain agenda out there. Amazing coincidence.

It would be one thing if this is what we did in the beginning.  At this point it'd be crazy to do that since we have a vaccine.  Most things are open except in a few places, so if we try to get back to somewhat normal while at least taking "some" precautions, we can probably minimize the damage while we allow time for a decent amount of people to get vaccinated.
