Now, the point is to lessen the severity, but given that these variants are not as deadly, there is not much of a point at all.  If you're old, fat, unhealthy, you should get it.

While it may have worked to lessen the severity, it backfired and fueled the spread because people didn't know they were sick.  It's no wonder they wanted everyone to get it.  This philosophy never occurred in vaccine history before.  That is why it isn't really a vaccine any more than ibuprofen is a vaccine.

This is wrong.  A vaccine elicits an immune response in order to spur the creation antibodies which aid in preventing future infection.  Ibuprofen does not do this at all.

There is a history of vaccines that are not 100% effective in preventing illness, most notably the influenza and pneumonia vaccines.

It seems to me that if we have a variant which is largely immune to the vaccine, it probably evolved from the vaccinated.  Why would it evolve from the unvaccinated?

variants are created based on the number of people infected.  So the more possible hosts, the greater the mutations, the greater the variants.

The vaccine only plays into reducing the number of possible hosts, but it was never going to be small enough to matter based on the global population and % vaccinated.

Correct, it was a very minor cold.  Any kind of prior immunity, either natural or vaccine, helps.  And of course you have to take care of yourself, eat well, rest, hydrate, etc.
