jerryskids 6,580 Posted April 26, 2020 At the risk of going posty here, to me every reggae song sounds the same. It wouldn't surprise me if there were a single band playing a single song for all time. [Digby] Reminds me of when I played trumpet in a polka band for a summer at a bunch of church bazaars (people back east know this word). The band leader would call out a song; we'd look it up in our book. If it wasn't in our book (which happened a surprising number of times) we asked what key it was in, transposed it for trumpet, and played "polka riffs in that key". It was actually a fun creative exercise, especially since I was a teenager drinking free church beer the whole night. [/digby] ETA: I wanted to clarify that this really happened, but as I typed it it kinda seemed like a Digby-esque story, hence my labels.

MDC 7,157 Posted April 26, 2020 Not a big reggae fan but I like Lee Scratch Perry and the Upsetters. I saw Lee Perry in concert twice in the 90s and he was great.
Herbivore 1,117 Posted April 26, 2020 Peter Tosh. One of the original Wailers. His Pandora station is pretty good, a lot of Toots and Steel Pulse mixed in there.
