Because the evidence against him and his mom was pretty overwhelming. Both were tried before juries, which is how our system is supposed to work. The prosecution produced overwhelming evidence of their guilt and they were convicted on all counts. Appeals courts unanimously upheld the convictions. So it’s hard for me to see this as an example of an unjust imprisonment, or to call this gentleman a political prisoner, as you have.

They were tried without a jury, but a bench trial. I would not want a jury trial in DC either as it would be filled would be big government weenies who are filled with Trump hatred.  Just because they were convicted does not mean they were not railroaded.   Our system of justice is only as fair as the people in charge.  Many blacks were unjustly convicted of rapes and murders by our system of justice.  Just because the biases are more political than racial, does not make it any more just.  Your complete trust in system and unwillingness to accept the presence of any agenda or corruption makes it impossible to ever sway you.  You will continue to trust the government and the media no matter how many times they lie to you.

I certainly don’t have complete trust in the system. In any example, if evidence is provided that an unjust outcome took place I will look at it. None has been presented here though I’ve asked for evidence.

Look, there are a lot of people that were prosecuted and convicted over January 6:

I am open to the possibility that mistakes were made IF you can provide evidence. 

I am open to the possibility that there was a deliberate unjust prosecution IF you can provide evidence. 

I am open to the possibility that other people who committed similar actions, such as during the George Floyd rioting, were not treated as harshly IF you can provide evidence (though I don’t believe that such an argument is especially relevant to this discussion.) 

I am NOT open to the possibility that the Jan 6 prosecutions, as a whole, are a liberal conspiracy to silence conservatives. I don’t believe any evidence can be provided for this. 
 

So I think that, in general, I have an open mind. Make your case.

This is an Affidavit Of Support of the charges from the lead investigator in of the Zip Tie case.

 

He describes a scene captured on video. (Item 19 in the affidavit.)

 

In the video the mom and son are in the vicinity of some officers getting beaten by a mob. The officers try to escape by running away. The mob runs after them and so does the mom and son, all while wearing tactical vests and carrying the zip tie cuffs.

 

The officers eventually do escape.
