I've said myriad times that I wish Ukraine would consider giving up the taken turf in order to get peace. I still support the West helping Ukraine. The only difference here is the prospect of this turning into a pointless stalemate with a U.S. presidential election year coming. The offensive has made progress as Ukraine has changed its tactics to hit supply lines and other targets well behind the front instead of trying to grind through minefield under heavy artillery fire. Lots of positive stories out today about the gains the offensive has made.

Pimpadeaux 2,405 Posted August 10, 2023 42 minutes ago, JustinCharge said: Oh id LOVE to hear your lies on that story. Continue. OK, so this is actually taken from the story you posted but didn't read. Quote The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraineâs parliament, is reviewing a bill that seeks to limit the ability of teenagers aged 16 to 18 to travel abroad. The authors aim to address situations in which EU social services might separate underage Ukrainian children from their families due to discrepancies in legal provisions. Cases have emerged where, for example, a child is taken from the custody of a grandmother because she doesnât possess legal authorization to act on the childâs behalf, especially when the childâs mother is still in Ukraine. The proposed legislation lays out specific conditions for teenagers intending to travel abroad: Travel is permitted if the teenager is accompanied by one parent, provided the other parent consents. They can travel with a trusted individual. For orphans or children without parental care, they must secure permission from the guardianship and care authority. The procedure to obtain this permission will be outlined by the Cabinet of Ministers. So you take something Ukraine is doing to keep kids from being separated from their families, turn it into Ukraine wanting to send these kids into battle and that I'm somehow supportive of this. What you've done here is further underscore that you're a terminal fountain of misinformation who bends and outright destroys facts to meet your delusional and dysfunctional paradigm. Thank you for this. It has made my day, and I'm glad that you love to hear it. Dumbass.
JustinCharge 2,397 Posted August 11, 2023 The media has been lying about the war DAILY.  If it was about protecting kids, it would be ALL ages.  The media is spinning it.  Ukraine is obviously targetting the oldest kids because theyd be conscripted first.

But what Iran's quest to become a nuclear power does highlight is the vast complexity behind actually doing that in total. It's a long attrition based logistical and resource management process, a true political nightmare, to be at the scale to develop nuclear weapons. How does this apply to Ukraine? Well in order to continue to get weapons from NATO, they have to agree NOT to attack inside Russia. Which is, from a practical warfare strategy standpoint, completely insane from Zelensky's perspective. It would be like the Allies in WW2 being asked not to invade Europe and just slug it out over and over again in Africa. Or asking the Russians in WW2 to just limit themselves to retaking ground from the German invasion but not seek to enter into Berlin at all. So for every other country, especially Taiwan, the message is clear. If you can't get nukes, then make your chemical weapons arsenal as robust as possible. Does anyone want to be the next Ukraine? Set to fight an endless war with one arm tied behind your back? And yes, the MSM domestically and even in the international daily media cycle are simply repeating what some analysts in a quiet room at Raytheon are telling them to say out loud. From the perspective of an American and to protect the interests of the United States, then no one should want Ukraine to attack inside Russia. That doesn't serve American interests However from the perspective of an "idealized" Ukrainian, and to protect the interest of Ukraine, in that kind of "hypothetical" , then the desire should be to unload Ukraine's entire chemical weapons arsenal into mainland Russia immediately. Zelensky could rack up possibly 80 million casualties in Russia in about five months that way. No one can invade you if their entire infrastructure has collapsed around them. No one can send ammo, missiles, weapons, personnel, supplies, etc, etc via rail if there is no more rail system. If there is no one left to support the rail system, or the basic means of production. Two things can be true at the exact same time, The first is that Ukraine's core government and Zelensky are highly corrupt. The second is that just because they are corrupt and that's being suppressed in the international daily media cycle, it doesn't justify what Putin and Russia have done to countless millions of innocent Ukrainians. You can oppose this war in total and still also oppose Zelensky's "leadership" as a matter of principle outside of the war narrative. You can't win a war when it's limited to just on your turf. That's plainly impossible. I'll say something unpopular. Zelensky should have used chemical weapons at the outset of the invasion. If a fight is inevitable, then you should punch first and punch the hardest while you are still fresh.

IGotWorms 4,057 Posted August 12, 2023 After months of inching through minefields, villages and open steppes in grueling combat, Ukrainian forces are making somewhat bigger advances along two major lines of attack, according to analysts, Ukrainian officials and Russian military bloggers. The amount of territory seized, 10 to 12 miles on both vectors of attack, while relatively small, is important in that it is compelling Moscow to divert forces from other parts of the front line, military analysts say. The Institute for the Study of War, a Washington-based think tank, called the advances âtactically significant,â saying Moscowâs redeployment would most âlikely further weaken Russian defensive lines in aggregate,â creating âopportunities for any Ukrainian breakthrough to be potentially decisive.â The Ukrainian military launched the counteroffensive this summer amid high hopes of duplicating its stunning sweep through the Kharkiv region in September. But those hopes were dashed amid heavy losses, causing commanders to change strategy from head-on assaults to a war of attrition, content to make steady, little gains while conserving resources and degrading those of the Russians. And even as Ukrainian soldiers battle in trenches and on the field, the campaign to sever Russian supply lines continues, with Ukrainian missiles and drones targeting sites far from the front lines.
