I asked chatgpt, here is what it said The complaint filed in February 2024, officially titled Carano v. The Walt Disney Co., confirms that the amount in controversy exceeds $75,000, which is a requirement for federal jurisdiction under diversity-of-citizenship rules. It doesn't specify exactly $75,000 in the claim, but it clearly states the damages in question exceed that threshold .

TimHauck 3,138 Posted August 8 3 hours ago, nobody said: Court doc clearly says compensation based on lost wages to be determined but exceeding $75k. Anyone thinks she settled for $75k or less is being naive. I mean unless she's claiming she only lost 75k in wages. I read she made $25k per episode. So maybe she only missed out on 3 episodes from the season or something

I don't believe I ever said she was seeking millions. I believe the closest thing I did was post an article that suggested that and I concurred with their assessment saying it made more sense than 75k. I happen to be aware of how these things tend to work which is to let the jury decide and implore them to send a message to large corporations which 75k won't do. So do I expect that she would have been awarded millions had she won her case? Yes. But did I ever say that she was suing for millions? I don't believe I did but if you can find that post I'll admit I'm wrong, unlike HackRainman.

You said it would make “a lot more sense” while simultaneously trashing the first link I posted, despite later acknowledging you had read a different article that also stated $75K but quibbling over the phrase “at least.” Keep in mind Disney didn’t even admit any wrongdoing with the settlement. So no one really knows how much she actually got

I was wrong when I assumed she only sued for $75k Thank you for finding the legal doc. I looked for it but couldn’t find it. I’ve said in the past I prefer primary sources so this only reinforces that. I’ll say I was wrong in saying that she didn’t ask for more than $75K + her role back, because she asked for punitive damages etc. too. But claiming $75k was wrong because the only part that lists an actual number says “exceeds” $75K is retarded. And we still don’t know what she actually got. We do know that Disney didn’t admit any wrongdoing, nor did they publicly promise her a role. And the fact that she specifically again thanked Musk suggests (but no, doesn’t confirm) that Disney didn’t pay her legal fees.
nobody 2,791 Posted August 9 I wouldn't be surprised if the phrase exceeding 75k was there to satisfy some rule or law that says a complaint has to exceed 75k or whatever to qualify for some specific treatment by the court.
