Too bad Egregious George finally realized he's to smart for us and left us losers behind.Ā  He could shed some light on this.

I asked chatgpt, here is what it said

The complaint filed in February 2024, officially titled Carano v. The Walt Disney Co., confirms that the amount in controversy exceeds $75,000, which is a requirement for federal jurisdiction under diversity-of-citizenship rules. It doesn't specify exactly $75,000 in the claim, but it clearly states the damages in question exceed that threshold .

Court doc clearly says compensation based on lost wages to be determined but exceeding $75k.

Anyone thinks she settled for $75k or lessĀ is being naive.Ā  I mean unless she's claiming she only lost 75k in wages.Ā

I read she made $25k per episode. Ā So maybe she only missed out on 3 episodes from the season or somethingĀ

Well since we’re in the Disney thread, are you everĀ going to admit you got duped by a cropped picture when you thought the 8 diverse people were meant to replace the 7 dwarves?

I don't believe I ever said she was seeking millions.Ā  I believe the closest thing I did was post an article that suggested that and I concurred with their assessment saying it made more sense than 75k.Ā  I happen to be aware of how these things tend to work which is to let the jury decide and implore them to send a message to large corporations which 75k won't do.Ā  So do I expect that she would have been awarded millions had she won her case?Ā  Yes.Ā  But did I ever say that she was suing for millions?Ā  I don't believe I did but if you can find that post I'll admit I'm wrong, unlike HackRainman.Ā

lol more semantics. Ā You said it would make ā€œa lot more senseā€ while simultaneously trashing the first link I posted, despite later acknowledging you had read a different articleĀ that also stated $75K butĀ quibbling over the phrase ā€œat least.ā€

Keep in mind Disney didn’t even admit any wrongdoing withĀ the settlement. Ā So no one really knows how much she actually got

You made the post I quoted long before posting the legal doc.Ā  Basically, you owned yourself.Ā  So, are you going to admit you were wrong the first time or not?

Bro, I was the one who found the document and posted it here.Ā  It's not a self own it's getting the facts out.Ā  I was wrong when I assumed she only sued for $75k

All you had to say is you were wrong the first time.Ā  That's all I asked you to do earlier but you chose to argue insteadĀ

Thank you for finding the legal doc. Ā I looked for it but couldn’t find it.Ā I’ve said in the past I prefer primary sources so this only reinforces that.Ā I’ll say I was wrong in saying that she didn’t ask for more than $75K + her role back, because she asked for punitive damages etc. Ā too. Ā But claimingĀ $75k was wrong because the only part that lists an actual number says ā€œexceedsā€ $75K is retarded.

And we still don’t know what she actually got. We do know that Disney didn’t admit any wrongdoing, nor did they publicly promise her a role. Ā And the fact that she specifically again thanked Musk suggests (but no, doesn’t confirm) that Disney didn’t pay her legal fees.

I wouldn't be surprised if the phrase exceeding 75k was there to satisfy some rule or law that says a complaint has to exceed 75k or whatever to qualify for some specific treatment by the court.

blah blah blah blah blah but but but

It was confirmed more than 75K, end of story no matter how you try to twist it
