Help me say No

Recommended Posts

There's a place here in town wants me to come in and work for them tonight.

Only reason I would is because there's a good kid will be stranded on his own if I'm not there.

But jesus, they wrote him up for leaving when the schedule told him to leave and this is one of his last days. Cuz he was smart enough to get a new job after that. Happy as a clam.

But I'm a different generation. And even coworkers and colleagues and friends and family are like " you know you can say no occasionally. " But I'm not so good at that.

Nothing but downside for me going in tonight. Nobody has any f****** memory. You bail them out  of a situation on Tuesday they'll forget it by thursday.

And they've been s***** as f*** to me all along. And I already worked a double + yesterday. And I already worked a shift this morning.

But my old man would never allow me to walk away from work. I mean, he was hardcore. You guys talk about teachers? My dad would go to the various bosses that I had and if I was f****** up in the least, well, it wasn't good.

I can make twice as much easily tomorrow. Literally, I could go up the street right now and make 80% more immediately.

God, we are a f***** up generation. The 20 somethings wouldn't think twice about just ghosting these m************.

But I'm still worried about my God damn dead Dad.

The greatest mind f****** generation.

And why the f*** am I struggling about this? If you can't attract and retain and schedule? Why is that my f****** problem to solve?

But that's what our Gen does.

I don't give half a s*** about my boss or my job, it ain't my f****** career. But you don't f*** over your coworkers. Or maybe you do these days. But we don't.

And I bet I'm heading into work. Because my old man would beat the s*** out of me either physically or metaphorically regardless.

And unfortunately, he's too damn dead to do it physically.

Motherfulcker.

I hear you, but just go.  You're the one that has to look at yourself in the mirror not them.

Your boyfriend pays for everything. Just give in to the butt sex or else you will be out on your ass. Your choice.

You gotta do what makes you happy wiff.  And I'm sensing that is to go and help the kid out.  It might not hurt that I'm taking a class to learn about buddhism and karma.  :dunno:

But on the flip side, let's be real, your days aren't probably in the thousands.  Or very high hundreds.  Sounds like the kid is moving on and the company is being a dik to him while they can.  Unless it's dangerous for some reason, he'll likely survive and not need a safe space.  So if you aren't feeling it, I don't think it's a big deal if you don't pull another shift.

Seriously though, can we get some clarification on this? I keep wondering into these threads expecting your last words and it ends up being some diatribe about the fry cook.

They want me to do the same thing tonight.

I don't think so.

Sorry, I have plans tonight.

It's that easy, Wiff.

It dawns on me that it's no different than the rest of society. These little 20 somethings want to think that they're doing something. But when the rubber hits the road? They still look to the old white guys to get the job done.

But but we don't have anybody else!"

Sounds like a You Problem.

Seriously, they don't think twice. Their default mode is to go back to Mommy and Daddy to fix whatever s*** they can't handle.

This is just an extension of that.

I don't even talk to people anymore. I literally show up, clock in , kick ass,  clock out.

There's some benefit to scaring young white people.

So, in this version of the multiverse, wiffleball never goes to a hypnotist, never says no to Lumbergh about working weekends, and there is zero chance he had sex with two chicks at the same time. But he enjoys Michael Bolton. The entire catalogue.

:(

Honest to god, they're not around long enough to even worry about.
