I’ve lived in Philly for decades and my son has spent his entire life here. I’ve never had to protect my family other than the ordinary stuff like telling my boy to look both ways before he crosses the street etc.

Do suburban dads really sit around having mind movies about protecting their wife and kids from violent marauders? Relax cuz nobody is coming for you.

To your point, it's true I have no desire to live in a major city, for a variety of reasons. I'd lived just outside one of the worst ones growing up.  But it is refreshing to know there still exists major cities that people can live as you say.
