The worst possible environment for Ds and a highly unpopular POTUS yet the Rs picked up almost nothing.

Ds have won 3 of the last 4 presidential elections and the popular vote forever.  Something about the policies people appreciate.  What people don't appreciate is:

The thing I don't get about the current GOP is why they don't hammer on a few things that either aren't really being addressed by either party or are very popular things universally but they aren't fully on board with, such as legal weed and mental health (especially since this is the go-to for gun violence for them).   Instead they try to focus on unpopular things like abortion bans and whatever the current moral panic is that isn't popular nationally.  

A lot of popular concerns are there for them now like the border and crime, but I think people are shying away from checking R more often because it feels like they would prefer turn us into Gilead in the process.
