Trump broke you guys. JFC.

You cannot even logically talk about an issue without invoking a "Trump" mention.

Definition of TDS.

They honestly think TDS is a joke. Yet they embody ir's meaning.

And let's not forget that oil was actually trading the negatives during covid.  But yeah, it's all Biden's fault.

You gave Biden credit for increasing covid production compared to years where we were on covid lockdown.  Enjoy tossing your mom's salad.

I know.  I am probably doing it wrong because I don't vote R across the board without putting thought into it.  I get it.

I have decades before retirement, as others have said, you go with the ebbs and flows.  I wish it was all +s all the time, but I think you guys are severely overestimating how much the POTUS is directly effecting your 401(K).  Lots of other factors, and they can make it better or worse for sure.   Why in the world would you base your presidential vote on your investment in a major way? Unless people are pointing out - you are at the end of the road and looking to get out.    What I find hard to believe is that many of you railing on me about my method of voting would vote for a Dem for president if your 401K was down after a 4 years term of a R president.   I could be wrong, but I'd guess you are voting R anyway, and just also think a benefit of that is it helps your investments as well.

Economy in general outside of investments and 401Ks?   Now I think that is higher priority as it also effects more people.   Higher on my list, but still not at the top, but I get why it would be for others.   But if Tues showed us anything, it might be that we are also overestimating how much the general public is voting on general economy vs. other issues.   If it was economy, I would have expected Biden and the Ds to get destroyed.

If the president's policies continued to make my life worse, I would vote against him.  In general, making people poorer would have a negative impact on their lives.

You're the latest in a long line of Blue Teamers that think I'm Red Team.  Only problem is the Red Team all think I'm on the Blue Team.

You can't read.  I simply said oil production is up since Biden took office, because you said he hindered production, which he clearly didn't.  This has nothing to do with inflation, and he gets no credit for this.  He simply did nothing.

See you live in this simpleton retarded child state where you think everything that happens during a presidential term is a direct result of the president's actions.  That hilarious.  You're a complete idiot, a god damn .

You have a strange definition of what defending someone is then.  I've specifically said everything that happens is not on the current president.  All I'm asking you to do is not vote for failure going forward.

You’re the simple Fockin retard who can’t even understand the difference b/w profit and revenue and the simplest of all things, supply and demand. So what if oil production is “up”? If the amount of up isn’t making up for the amount that was diminished by sanctioning Russian oil, then you’re still behind where you were. How can you not grasp this?

Gas prices in my neck of the woods are around $2.90. Not too shabby considering what has been happening with Russia and Saudi Arabi, which has some back-channel ass kissing going with Biden right now.

He learned it straight from what Obama was all about.

“On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear.”

I would rather this nation be fearful of failure and have that drive it to being proactive in preventing failure, rather then just sitting back and hoping some corrupt politician is going to fix everything for you.

Maybe if the people of this country back then were fearful that our first black president was determined to destroy decades of race relations between it's citizens, aggressive action could have prevented much of the identity politics implanted in the minds of the people here. Much of the hatred towards those who treat everyone equal and not treating one race as special over another may have been avoided. Putting the economy in position for all to succeed could have been a number 1 issue.

For years, in general,  people stopped seeing race as a prime reason to treat people difference. Then came Obama. At first it was, "we need to see color" and celebrate one race at the expense of another. Then it was a full blown movement towards making black people innocent victims of just about everything that exists in this country. Then that grew into the whole systemic racism movement over time. And it kept pitting races against each other. and it eventually grew out of hand and half the country fully believed that black people are inferior and can't take care of themselves. So they turned against conservative white people, and felt like they should be catered to in every way over those same white people. And of course that spilled over through the years to other groups and now we have 300+ genders that NEED to be recognized. Even pedophilia is explained away.

And while all this was building up, the liberal politicians ignored the economy except for their own personal gains. Plenty for me not for thee. Suck it up and deal with it because that's what the right thing to do is. Stop thinking about yourselves and start thinking about supporting us liberals passing bills that no one needs to know what's in them other than what we decide to title the bill as. That grew into Biden now saying things like this.

Everyone in this country that has money is evil except for us liberals so if you aren't rich, attack the rich. If you don't work, attack the workers.

Don't fear the economy is tanking, and therefore expect the president to make the right moves to help fix it by making the right moves, and stopping his useless spending and close the border. Just HOPE everything will be ok.

First Obama, then Obama 2.0. Failure #1 and Failure #2.

Hope doesn't do shlt.

You can't expect to live in a liberal state with almost non-existent oil production and refineries to not pay higher prices at the pump.

This is simple cost of living.

If you expect oil to get pulled up, refined and sent to your liberal neck of the woods, then you get to pay more.

Or you could spend your dollars - less of them - in a red state.

You've chosen your bed, so suck it up or move.

Gee I never once heard a liberal living in a liberal state complain about high gas prices.

Of course, they probably all believe what Biden says no matter what. Like when Biden said gas prices were already over $5 a gallon at the time he took office.

Sometimes it's really difficult to figure out who is dumber, Biden or his voters. It's quite sad really.

Glad I can educate you fellows so you know where exactly to target the blame for inflation.  For those who are slow (conservatives) the blame for inflation looks like this:

Fed monetary policy >>>> Trump >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Biden

Oh and Nevada about to stay blue which keeps the Senate blue and likely will mean a +1 pickup and the House will just BARELY go red by a few votes.  Truly the WOAT mid-term elections for the party out of power.  And given the state of the economy and unpopularity of Biden the WOAT midterm result by a very wide margin.

2024 is going to be a landslide for dems when the economy is all healed and Biden's not running against Trump.

Gonna be beautiful.

You mean thanks to Biden not bungling the vaccine rollout like Trump did with PPE and essentially all things covid right?  Remember Trump promised 20M vaccines by the end of December and it ended up being 1M because his administration was a chaotic, bungling mess at everything.

Maybe all those books written by people who worked for him saying what an an unhinged moron he is are actually true...

Yes and no.

Inflation is ever-present of course.  The Fed is supposed to try and control it.

BUT.  When the President executes massive hand outs that money sticks in the system, its a surge and the Fed is not built to handle that. SO.....when we were vocalizing against the stuff Biden was doing prior to him doing it....we were saying...hold on people this will cause inflation we should not do this...and then all the sudden...

It was a stupid move.  and We all get to pay for it.

Um, how much has Biden spent compared to Trump?  Which president bullied the Fed to keep rates stupid low?  Which president gave unnecessary tax cuts for the rich that flooded the economy with additional $'s?

Hint, it wasn't Biden.

Worse by a small degree.  Like instead of 8% inflation it would have been 7%.  Trump's foolish spending and tax cuts and bullying the Fed set the whole inflation train in motion.

A distinction without a difference.

Anyone with ECON101 knew that his injection of money was going to needlessly cause extra pain.  And here we are.

Can I ask why you're focused on the small amount of spending/pain that Biden caused when the foundation, in fact the whole house, had almost been completed before he ever stepped foot in office?

Trump bullied the Fed many times throughout his presidency.  I've provide a link to one such example below.  When Trump took office the Fed rate was .75.  By December 18 the Fed had raised rates to 2.5.  Something they should have been doing during "booming" times, yet Trump complained all the way because his only concern was the stock market.  Trump complained so bitterly in fact that by Dec 19 the Fed actually LOWERED the rate to 1.75.  If during the years 17 -  19 the Fed had been able to do its work unfettered by tweets and comments by Trump, the Fed rate could have stood between 3 and 4 which would have had a profound impact on the inflation we're dealing with now.

Because singular actions can have disproportionate consequences.

When you hear the President say he wants to pass a large spending bill it should give us pause. While inflation is a constant threat and the Fed is built to manage it, they cannot deal with a large infusion in a tight window, THAT is very much like throwing gas on a fire. Its dangerous, and many....many...people said it was a bad idea, manchin saved us for a short time, but caved, and wham.

And who does it affect disproportionately? Historically disenfranchised people, lower class, lower middle class.  It was a heartless move.

I can 100% see why you think about it the way you do. Your assertion makes sense on its face. But a deeper dig I think reveals something more interesting.

He may have been right by accident. He did influence the Fed, they did have to reverse course on interest rates and they did have to reverse on the balance sheet. Trump was not wrong on both of those issues, but how he got there might’ve been wrong.

But the Fed’s policy reversal was also a paradigm shift. Their perceptions about the relationship between unemployment and inflation had changed and with it their perception about interest rates. It vindicated some of Trump’s positions.

The Fed spent much of 2018 operating under the assumption that Trump’s tax cuts and a plunging unemployment rate would soon kick the economy into high gear, creating inflation. And until about five years ago, policymakers assumed that unemployment couldn’t get much lower than 5 percent, they were watchful of an overheating economy, but it never happened.

The secret? Growth. Trump loves business and growth. And while I doubt he fully understood that growth equated to an effective control of consumption because growth was matching it. Because of that factor inflation was "controlled" it existed and only when growth subsided would there be an inflationary period, but the Fed was built to see and handle this kind of inflation.

What Biden did through his legislation was a reckless move to appease radical elements within his party.
