Tucker Carlson "I'm Ashamed" how I defended the Iraq war

Recommended Posts

Imagine :o   The thing all of us non bush-bots knew at the time. The Iraq war was a joke.

Similar to the Biden-bots now and the Ukraine war.

He should be ashamed. But not because he was for the war, but because he (a) labeled anyone who was opposed as unpatriotic and (b) engaged in hateful anti-Islamic phobia.

He should be even more ashamed for his current attitude regarding Ukraine.

I agree. Screw Ukraine. We shouldn't be sending them a penny. They are as crooked as can be and we need to stop the crazy ass spending that is helping to destroy this nation and ruining people's lives.

You are right. Biden should be ousted from the White House and tossed in prison.

He says that explicitly. Glad he and others came around, from someone who was opposed from the start.

Carlson initially supported the invasion, but quickly came out against it:

“I think it’s a total nightmare and disaster, and I’m ashamed that I went against my own instincts in supporting it,” Carlson told the New York Observer in early 2004. “It’s something I’ll never do again. Never. I got convinced by a friend of mine who’s smarter than I am, and I shouldn’t have done that. . . . I’m enraged by it, actually.” Carlson told the National Interest that he’s felt this way since seeing Iraq for himself in December 2003.

He should be commended for his change in position because history shows he was right.  And it’s the more moral position.  Funny to see Democrats suddenly becoming so hawkish.  Just to be in opposition to Trump.

I hated Bush he’s a total leftist. Look at the admiration he receives from the Left. It’s no surprise they love him because he is a horrible person who killed millions of innocent people.

Most righties did that. Just like the left is doing now with Ukraine. American needs to get rid of the 2 party system, or things will continue to get worse and not better

Always believed the real reason the U.S. invaded Iraq was to flex military muscle following 9/11.  To "shock and awe" the world and restore American confidence. Iraq was the perfect turkey shoot... an evil dictator with a weak military whom the U.S. had already fought twice before (Kuwait and Gulf War) and best of all, brown and Muslim - just like the culprits of 9/11.

People say "if we wanted to shock and awe, why not do it to the real culprits of 9/11?" Because blowing up rocks in Afghanistan wouldn't have the same effect. The Iraq invasion was on live tv so the world could watch U.S. missiles and fireworks.

To some extent it worked - America looked strong. However, after the WMD excuse was found to be complete bs, America looked like international bullies. Then the catastrophic mistakes Bush Jr. made following the war made it a total cluster.  Disbanding the Iraqi army being the worst... sending armed/trained (and very  pissed) Iraqi's home to horrible unemployment in a land occupied by Americans - a military who could've been used to keep the peace, rather than causing the unrest. And then Bush's other huge blunder - putting Nouri al-Maliki in charge of Iraq's government. The Shiite bozo removed all Sunni's from government and persecuted the Sunni population. Bush was warned Maliki had to be replaced, but didn't budge.  Insurgencies followed and many of the former Iraq soldiers (all Sunni) joined ISIS making them more powerful than ever.

In conclusion...  the Iraq war was a monumental mistake and stained America's reputation as the leader of the free world. It led to America's increasing isolationist attitude - to the detriment of the world.

The invasion of Iraq was going to happen one way or another. If you know what the shock doctrine is, then you understand that. They were just waiting for an excuse. 9/11 provided it, but it would have been something else. Saddam Hussein had to go. There couldn’t be a guy like that sitting on that much oil and willing to start a fight with his neighbors.  He had done it twice already. He was in the way.

It's actually common sense.  At the start, people will look to towards the 3rd and 4th, etc, parties... but it won't be the larger bases.  Slowly, people will leave the larger bases for those other parties.  Inevitably, the result will be more moral thumping hammers by the Leftist media and slowly, all of the parties will move left.  The inevitable conclusion is that you'll water down the conservative philosophy and capitalism will eventually fade.

How do you think that more parties would improve the country?  Every politician, regardless of party, is in it for themselves, not the public.  Look at the Maher video you posted yesterday with Yang.  The guy is a complete buffoon.  Both he and Slotkin said they think we need to move away from the extremists and then followed that up with saying that Newsom and Whitmer are great Democrat candidates.  I mean, wtf is that?  That's two of the biggest Leftists in the state government we have in this country?  When you get more parties, the result will be more "moderate" Democrats who just want to push the country further left.

With Socialism/Marxism/Communism, all you have is the illusion of choice.  Canada doesn't have any more than we do.  In fact, they have less choice.

We do, but we also have the GOP to save us from that.

In Canada your choices are Socialism Party 1, Socialism Party 2, Socialism Party 3 and so on and so forth.

What were the choices the last few elections? Tell me the last time a POTUS was elected because he was the popular choice and was not getting a vote because the other guy was loathed?

Biden/Trump  (Biden elected for hatred of Trump)
Trump/Clinton (Trump elected for hatred of Clinton)
Obama/Romney (You were racist for not voting Obama)
Obama/McCain (McCain was the best the right could do?)

Focking stop it.  If this is the best we can offer, the system is focking broken. Letting Americans vote is comical. Most are focking nitwits.

From stuff I've heard and seen, I wouldn't say that.  I'd say they were basically "moderate Republicans".
