I didn't see it but I'd assume they had rifles. Remember, they are there for a specific target so for them a scoped rifle would be ideal. Not so much for the attacker

I was in Somalia, a few times and not by choice. It's the scariest place I've ever been and I've been deployed just about everywhere. Enjoy your safe little neighborhood and thank God everyday that your an American.

You missed the point.  Of course Somalia has fewer GUN deaths (per capita or overall) if the average person there doesn't have guns.  The question is overall violent crimes/deaths, independent of weapon.  If there are more per capita in the US then you have a point, because a "better" place like the US will have more overall violent crimes, which you could attribute to gun access.  But I suspect that is not the case.
