1. I don’t believe that anti-transgender attitudes or legislation would have stopped this. 
2. I don’t believe that any of the proposed gun legislation, some of which I agree with, would have stopped this. 
4. I don’t believe that arming teachers would heve stopped this. 
5.  I don’t think cutting off aid to Ukraine would have stopped this. 
6. I don’t blame liberals or the left for this. 
7. I don’t blame conservatives or the right for this. 
 

We are essentially a free society with individual rights. Some of the individuals who have these rights are crazy and we don’t know who they are and we will NEVER know who they are beforehand: Terrible incidents like these are the result of that. But on the whole I’m glad we are the society we are. And I’m very grateful to the police who saved so many lives this time around.

Metal detectors can detect all kinds of metal now, but, we can start with the cheap ones for schools and it would solve this problem 99.9%.  Just like we don't have the problem at ballparks.

BLM is "leftist" (on the left as opposed to the right) but is not a terror group.

Militant transgenders have yet to form any organized group and comprise a miniscule percentage of mass shooters (like 2 in 5 years from the examples we've been given).

What’s to keep somebody from being there when the children arrive or when they leave? If there’s a metal detector there will be a line of students waiting to get in or to exit. Somebody could rush up to that line and start spraying bullets. 
 

I’m open to ALL practical solutions at this point but every last one of them that I’ve heard seems to have a major flaw. I just don’t think there’s any real way to prevent thiis.

I believe you are correct.  Even detectors from several years ago are sensitive enough to detect even my guns whuich are ceramic and polymer as they still have a fairly high steel component.  The problem with these school shooters is they would shoot the monitor and come right on past.  Or so I imagine.

A bunch of parents, teachers and security when they show up and when they leave.  That's just a 20 minute timeframe for most town's police officers.  You've been to a ballpark recently?

Exactly. I get that lives were lost but we have to look at this as a positive outcome. Vigilant, heroic police are the answer. They can’t prevent these tragedies but they can limit the amount of lives lost.

To further my example; bitter NFL rivals, alcohol, 100,000 people jammed into one spot and the most we every hear about are a few fist fights.

A few guys beat the system at airports during 9/11 and the next thing you know we have to take our shoes off and no more water bottles.

But we can't figure out schools, just too tough of a nut to crack I guess.
