The World Health Organization’s vaccine experts have revised their global Covid-19 vaccination recommendations, and healthy kids and teenagers considered low priority may not need to get a shot.

The updated roadmap is designed to prioritize Covid-19 vaccines for those at greatest risk of death and severe disease, according to the World Health Organization’s Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (SAGE).

It is being issued to reflect the Omicron stage of the pandemic and because of countries’ high population immunity levels due to vaccines and infection, the group announced following a recent meeting.

The new streamlined recommendations focus on high-, medium- and low-risk groups.

SAGE recommends additional booster doses of Covid-19 vaccine for high-priority groups such as older people, immunocompromised people of all ages, front-line health workers and pregnant people six or 12 months after their last booster dose.

For those at medium risk, the group recommends primary vaccinations and first booster doses but does not recommend routine additional boosters. This group includes children and adolescents with health risks and healthy adults under the age of about 60.

For healthy kids six months to 17 years old, the group said countries should consider vaccinating based on factors such as disease burden and cost-effectiveness.

 

Why just 6 months to 17 years old? We all know any healthy person didn't need the jab.

Many of them didn't catch it until after getting vaccinated though.   So we could have gotten "back to normal" sooner, but there in all likelihood would have been more deaths, both from covid and if hospitals actually did get overwhelmed (since they were not in reality).

Many businesses were going to be way down for the first year regardless of what restrictions were put in place due to people voluntarily choosing to avoid crowded places.

They (WHO, CDC, Gov’t) simply should’ve been fully transparent.  Instead they treated us like children and told us what they *thought* we should hear so people would get vaccinated and wear masks and social distance. 
 

ETA: and I’m not against vaccines in and of themselves but people were pretty much bullied by hospitals, their job, to get them. Not cool. This broke a lot of trust.

And let's never forget they aren't the experts.  Nobody that works in government is the expert of anything.  The experts make 7 or 8 figure salaries, not a government salary. Fauci is the poster child for this fact.

I was against the vax mandates as well.  Interestingly though a recent study in the Lancet found that vaccine mandates for state and school employees were significantly associated with reduced death rates, although no other measure was.

They worked, just not 100%, against infection until Omicron.  Yes with Omicron they weren’t very effective against infection but were effective against death.
