Yep.  Sorry Squistion, but it is virtually impossible to prove a negative.  I say "virtually" because while I can't think of a case where you can do it, I'm open to one existing.  Plus you made the claim, so the onus of proof is on you.  Of course you don't have it; I don't think you even read it in a Lefty article, I think you just inferred it because a bunch of them imply it.

There isn't any doubt that trans exist, you see them in the wild.  And there are many reasons they exist that I don't think classify as true gender dysphoria:  Young teens acting out.  Caitlyn Jenner wanting to stay relevant.  Fat, ugly, socially challenged men who have zero heterosexual activity find they suddenly get the attention the desire if they dress up as a woman.

I suspect that true gender dysphoria exists too, but, I bet it's the exception not the rule.  I think it's just being used as a crutch right now to let people dodge the obvious scientific and psychological truths.

 

I think we are in agreement.  Your second paragraph describes what I've conveniently called "fake trans."  I agree with your third paragraph for current times, but not that long ago the only trans people were people with gender dysphoria, and as such it was rare.  And somehow we never had a problem with things like men playing women's sports.  I suspect (my opinion, I have no data to corroborate) that people with gender dysphoria are just looking to live life in their (psychologically) real gender and not look for attention by, say, beating up biological women in MMA.

I'm asking the, for lack of a better phrase, "anti trans" folks here to acknowledge that there is some small subset of trans folks with true gender dysphoria, and as such the phenomenon exists.  IMO this is a position of science from which to argue the true problem which is the social contagion we are experiencing.

I don't think so but some might, which is why I would never do that.  One of my closest friends was gay and I used to call him phag and he would call me racial slurs, it was in good fun.
