not sure what you mean? over white people in the projects?

Also, if you noticed, I am more talking about wealth than skin color.  But it is more likely for blacks to start out poor.

Can poor black people have privilege over white middle class people?

I read the part you quoted me.

To that latter quote, no shiitt Tracy.  Not everyone has clear sailing in life.  I had a kid at 16 and dropped out of HS to get a full-time job to provide medical benefits for my son.  I still managed to get a college degree and have a career.  Sure, that career didn't start until I was around 40, but I did it... so can other people.  I never whined or cried about it, nor did I want my government to force rich people to pay my way.

Jokes aside, seems like we agree that privilege exists.   There have been some claim there is no such thing.

And I never said rich people should "pay the way" for poor people.  But I think we can do a better job on things like access to childcare and job training for poor folks.

You are by far the worst arguer on this board. All you offer are personal insults and snide remarks- never an independent thought or well reasoned rebuttal. Never a fact.

I’m told you’re Horseman and also that you were Tonydead on FBG. The latter surprises me a little because although Tonydead was an insipid duchebag most of the time, he did occasionally bring actual content and argument to the discussion. If you’re the same guy then all I can say is that you’ve gotten dumber and worse, which I didn’t think possible.

For the most part, no.   I'm sure you're going to talk affirmative action or something but the purpose of affirmative action was to try to level the playing field.   So for example a poor black person that scores 1000 on the SAT could be just as smart as a white middle class person that scores 1250, because the white person in this case had better access to resources that allowed them to get that score.   If that black person gets accepted to a college that the white one doesn't, that's not "privilege."

However I'd agree with what even some here have acknowledged that some of the diversity numbers at colleges and such are now likely being driven by blacks that were already middle to upper class, so it's probably not helping the poor blacks much.

The reason affirmative action was a bad idea, IMO, is because by the time you get to college age it’s too late. If a black student has not received a good education in primary school and high school he’s not going to perform as well in college as someone who has.

The other problem is that if a student, black, white or otherwise, is not getting support from his home life, particularly in the form of good and responsible parenting, he’s not going to get a good education no matter how good the school is and how much money we as taxpayers throw at it. This is a point that conservatives usually make and liberals tend to ignore. I think the conservatives are right.

My problem with conservatives is after they make the reasonable argument I just described, they effectively throw up their hands and say “nothing can be done!” I refuse to accept this. I think that as a society we have a responsibility to try and navigate through these problems.

Black people , real black people, not Halle Berry, are yelling about crime where they live that is done by the people they live with but we can always count on soft, mushy, well fed white liberals to tell us what’s going on.

All you need to know about Horseman is he goes around here telling people he is a "LIFE WINNER" and they are "LIFE LOSERS" but he has multiple accounts he posts under here on the board so he can tag team on flame wars against people.

He's also shared that he makes $300K+ per year, he has a HOTWIFE, but he doesn't actually share her, she's just hot, a bikini model in fact.  And he has posted links to gaysexwebcam.com, but maintains he's a staunch heterosexual.

🤣🤣🤣

You're just butthurt because you got exposed in your illegals pay taxes thread.  But go ahead explain to us how requiring businesses to report payments for services more than $600, or any number really, "punishes illegals".

I wont hold my breath.

What if they have siblings they need to take care of because their parent(s) are working or not present?  What if they had committed a crime which makes it harder to get a job?  Not to mention these “rules” seem to be focused on teens and thus telling them to get a full time job will make it much more difficult to further their education.

Lol did you read the first paragraph?

They are saying it’s hard, just that it’s possible.  Which is all I’m saying.  I’m not saying poor people can’t become rich or even middle class. I’m saying they are at a disadvantage for doing so.  And those that don’t have those disadvantages, have privilege.

There are advantages and disadvantages among all of us.  Pretending there is some systemic issue is inane, and ineffective as it is not true.

That is why liberals never change anything other than the standards by which we measure.  They lower expectations because they know its NOT the system

When I said rich people, I meant the agenda of taxing the rich more to create more equality.  That's not going to work.  Rich people are rich because they're good at not just making money, but keeping it.  They'll find loopholes to be taxed less.

Childcare, the way the government is handling it, is a losing battle because the government's approach is to make it give people vouchers, tax credits, or stuff like that, to privately owned/run day care centers.  The only thing that does is increase the cost and make it harder to afford because like hospitals, the day cares increase the base cost.  The best way to handle childcare is through the community.  Make it mostly volunteer based.  Towns can set up something where parents of kids who need childcare help, band together to help each other out.  You have 20 families in your town who need help, then you have 40 volunteers.  If M-F from 7-6 need to be covered then you have 40 people who can watch the kids.  Take 8 people per day, each day, that volunteer to cover those time slots to watch the kids.  If you need to hire one or two people, so be it.  It keeps costs down and it allows for 32 people every day, to work an 8-hour shift where you don't have to worry about your kids or the cost.

Job training is easy, but neither of our political institutions want to do it.  Outside of college, the best thing for people is trade schools... free stuff and tax breaks.  Things that both conservatives and liberals, hate and love.  Poor people can get free on-the-job training or free admission to trade schools and the cost, is tax breaks.  People who want to apply for a technical school admission or a job trainee position, go and sign up at town hall.  Qualifications are that they're poor... whatever that metric is that you want to judge it by.  Here's how it works...

  • Jim is poor and would like to get into the HVAC industry, but doesn't have the skills.
    • He files with the town for education/job training assistance.
  • Johnson Tech is a school that trains people to do HVAC.
    • Johnson Tech files with the town that year, that they will admit 4 people for free, who qualify.  Bob files with the town that year, that he will hire a person who qualifies.
    • Johnson Tech gets to write off 100% of the years tuition loss + expenses for that year, for those 4 people.
  •   Bob is a general contractor needs an HVAC guy.
    • Bob gets to write off 100% of wages earned by person hired, plus portion of training costs.

Bob hires Jim at an entry level cost of $15/hr and Jim goes out on a job with a qualified HVAC (random number, makes $30/hr).  The job normally takes 3 hours, but with Jim training, it takes 4 hours.  Bob is allowed to write off 100% of Jim's employment... meaning, salary, taxes, medical (if applicable), and any other costs associated to Jim, plus 33% of the qualified guys salary (because it took 33% longer to do the job).

Jim gets to go to school for free and make some money, instead of being on welfare, and gets a career.  Johnson Tech gets to write off more money than they probably should, but gain money to expand and improve their school without raising tuition for paying students.  Bob basically gets a free employee, plus a little extra, to help improve his business.

The town saves money on not paying for welfare (or any other government assistance), and gets to take Jim (a little bit).  The town doesn't may lose on some tax money in the short term, but the following year, when Jim is making $25/hr, they're getting it back, plus extra... from someone they expected to be paying out welfare to.

Everyone wins, no one loses.  Well, maybe the politicians.  Republicans have to give up free stuff... Democrats have to give tax breaks.

Like I said, you could argue that “it’s not the system” currently, but it used to be, and that’s why blacks are more likely to have disadvantages than whites. You are insane to say there are disadvantages among all of us yet refuse to acknowledge that blacks are more likely to have those disadvantages, although I understand that you will never realize that.

Everyone has advantages and disadvantages. Successful people face the world and when things dont work out they  perservere.  The AA community needs to unwind the damages done by Democrats through their policies to be sure, but they also have to fix their culture. And if they do not face the fact that they have problems, even of those problems feed some trope, then they cannot progress.

Its time to stop falling back on the "its just so hard for us" excuse.  Copy what the asians are going, they are a perfect example of how to approach the world.

Stop enabling the false narrative, stop pretending its just too hard and they just cant, because they actually can.   Those that do not fall victim to the idiotic celebration of the worst behaviors emerge successful.   And sometimes they achieve success but do not give up that sick cutlural cancer (Aaron hernandex and Rae Carruth come to mind)

At first it was something benign, like being logged into the other account at work vs. home because most people wouldn't be concerned about such trivialities on an message board that's anonymous anyway.

But, then I found out it irritates you.

The 28-year-old grandson also claimed Mr Lester used to make disparaging comments about Black people, gay people, and immigrants – and kept a large number of firearms in his home, including rifles and handguns.

Mr Ludwig told CNN that his grandfather has a history of making “racist comments” and of an interest in “QAnon-level conspiracy theories”.

“I believe he holds racist tendencies and beliefs,” he said, adding that he has bought into “conspiracies and weird random, racist things”.

“A lot of it was like the QAnon-level conspiracies of election denying and he got really weird about some Fauci dogs.  He spent a lot of time posting on a fantasy football message board.  I would push back on some of that stuff and he couldn’t handle being pushed back on and at a certain point we kind of lost touch and I think it was more his choice than mine,” he said.
