And I didn't see guitar great Rory Gallagher on the above list. No, he didn't have a hit record, but his album sales have totaled 30 million worldwide and if talent alone were a qualification, he would have made it in his first year of eligibility.

Although I don't agree with it, I understand the reason for Thin Lizzy's exclusion.

First of all, they are regarded in this country as a "one hit wonder" with The Boys Are Back In Town. They had a half dozen other songs in the UK in the Top 20, but outside of TBABIT, they never cracked the Top 50 on this side of the pond. And their only Top 20 US LP was Jailbreak that only reached #18.

Secondly, they peaked both creatively and commercially with Jailbreak or arguably before that. Their output after Jailbreak had its moments, but quality seemed to steadily diminish after that release.

 Finally, Phil Lynott was pretty much considered by the public as the centerpiece of the band and while some reunions were attempted after his premature demise, it just wasn't the same without, Lynott, nor could it be IMO.

Robert Plant ought to be in there for his solo work. He certainly deserves it more than Stevie Nix, who got in.

I don't think he does much, either. He's had a pretty remarkable, adventurous solo career, much more than Jimmy Page, who hasn't realy done all that much, alghough I'd like to hear whatever he has stuffed away in a vault.

George Michael has sold like 100 million albums that gets him in this thing.
