So anybody who's actually intellectually honest knows that there's about a billion different translation errors that have occurred throughout the centuries as regards the bible. Ive proven that. Look I figure it's a wash usually. One letter here...

What if "Satan" was actually just Stan? 

I mean it really does change pretty much everything. It's kind of like if Darth Vader was actually an asthmatic with cerebral palsy.

Most people don't look at much of the context around the Bible and the Apostles. That verse from Revelation is much more chilling to the core, when one considers that John was seen as the last survivor of the original 12, and he had to live with knowing all the others died violently and under severe persecution. Peter, who was thought to be the favorite of Jesus, was crucified upside down. Others were burned alive or stoned or stabbed to death slowly. 

The lesson of Paul is also IMHO widely missed by even those who are seen as very religious. Paul's regret for his former persecution of Christians manifested itself in his utter fearlessness. That there is nothing for you in the past. You cannot rely on the future. You must exist solely in the present and make that time count. And for those lost in the material world, it's easy to lose sight of how time slips away for the sake of things that offer limited value. 

If you talk to many elderly people, many will tell you that they'd trade all the odd junk and "treasure" they collected over the years, in exchange for a trip somewhere in their youth. To see a new place. To learn something new. To experience a different culture. 

Many people are "lost" because they can't exist in the present. They are building their "wealth" and preparing for a life that will never come for them. 

Real happiness, what little there is for us in this life, has to come from the inside. It has to start from the inside. It must manifest itself in the present.
