Would you rather be fired or quit?

Recommended Posts

Granted, quitting is you saying goodbye, so you are in charge. But being fired invokes "involuntary separation" which pays many weeks of pay. At least where I work.  🤔

If you can secure release without prejudice then you do not have a bad mark, and you get the money.  That is perhaps the best of circumstances.

The third option is being laid off, which is an involuntary separation that still gets you unemployment benefits.  You don't ever want to be fired because it likely means you can't use that employer as a reference, which puts a gap in to your employment history.  This is fine if you work there a short period of time or are just starting out, but those with actual careers don't really want that.

And you probably won't be able to get unemployment either...

Can't collect unemployment or get severance if you quit. Don't be dumb.

In MA you can collect if you're fired or laid off.

Yes, you can collect unemployment if you quit.  It depends on the reasons for you quitting.

Just say it was the "stress" that caused you to quit

The fourth option is working for yourself

Quit.  In some cases you can still collect unemployment.

Hypocrite.   I guess it’s okay for you to share what you believe, but as you said on my thread, you don’t like it when people do.

I'm not sharing a belief.  I'm sharing how unemployment works.  Any one can look it up and see for themselves.

The reason I mentioned it is because I've had to pay out unemployment to employees who have quit before.  Most people don't think it happens.

When Cornell University fired employees for not taking a medical experiment, the terminated employees were refused unemployment benefits. The university and NY State wanted to make it as painful as possible to be a free thinker. Being debt-free opens the door to freedom.

I love being debt free since about 15 years ago so much that I would rather die than not debt free. My girlfriend is debt free and we owe nobody any focking thing.

Go Dave Ramsey. I didn't know who he was when I was in debt, but I like listening to the guy even now.

Suckfoam about to get sh1tcanned? Did his employer finally realize how non-productive he is, posting shlt-talk all day long on a forum for fantasy football losers? Or maybe they realized how big of a mistake they made hiring a nitwit bigot? Or is HR involved because he harassed the office lesbian? Please tell us dooshbag, why you're worried about getting fired.

Quit. The only thing I’ve truly quit.I’ve quit a few as I only wanted to experience different jobs as I had a great job ahead off my future.

I worked at a cold storage distribution warehouse for a grocery company.Anything frozen. Graveyard shift and had to weather clothes like you were in Minnesota. Got to work early one night and the boss told me to wash his truck. Said it was initiation rookie.  Me:ok.  I took the nastiest mud and coated his nice F-150 and left a note under his wiper. I guit biotch.
