Anybody Here That Never Shot A Gun ?

Recommended Posts

I'm assuming water, paintball, and Nerf don't count?  ;)

I'm your Huckleberry- never held or fired a real gun.

Would I be a nerd if I said I was on the high school rifle team ?

Nerd? No.   Old? Yes.  ;)

Seriously, though - when was that?   I'd assume these went away many years ago, but I could be wrong.   I don't remember such a thing around here growing up.

I was '93.   Where at? Like I said- I don't remember a rifle club being a thing up here in WI.

You should get some range time with an instructor. You'd actually have a blast. A .22 is nothing more than a glorified BB gun, a lot of fun though. That's where I started as a kid.

I probably would have fun, but never saw the point beyond that.  I'm not going to hunt or buy a gun in general.

A couple co-workers have offered to take me to the range, and will take them up on that one of these years.

For most it's a sport or hobby, not unlike someone playing horseshoes or darts.

Never

I’ve only touched an unloaded real gun maybe 5 times.

I understand that, but it also costs money and time, correct?  It just never interested me to do so.

I would like to get into shooting a bow.  Have a friend that does all the time and he loves it.  Takes quite some practice to get good but seems addicting.

Yes, unfortunately it can get very expensive. Especially at over one dollar a round.

A .22 is less expensive to shoot

Son goes to a shotgun range where it is like playing golf. You drive a cart to different stations and the skeet is at different levels and range at each spot. When I shot skeet as a teenager we did it illegally in the woods. Dumb kids we were.

Exactly.  I don't have the money for that, and don't currently need anything for home defense.   I have enough hobbies I spend too much time and money on as it is.

Understood, it's definitely not for everyone.

My coworker was just talking about a similar range yesterday. Definitely sounds like fun.

Nah I was in HS in the mid 2000s and we had a rifle team. Most went into the military afterwards.

Got my first BB gun at 8. Pellet gun at 10. 20 gauge shotgun at 12. I’ve shot some pretty cool gun down in Texas and in the military. Most fun was the belt fed M249 SAW I got to use. 50cal is fun too but I had the most fun with that SAW

South Carolina. They’ve got them still in schools. But I don’t think they do in big liberal states like Cali or Oregon

I pawned a shotgun YEARS ago. Like 10+. When I went to get it out they have to do a background check on you still just to get your own gun out of pawn. If something comes up then you can’t get it out

My dad started taking me to the shooting range and to the state muzzleloader competition when I was around 8 or 9. I shot my first deer with a muzzleloader.

I have all kinds of guns and have fired all kids of guns, the coolest being the ones I got to shoot at Fort Hood during a Leadership Killeen session.

I got to shoot an MP5 machine gun and a sniper rifle that could shoot the pecker off a flea from two miles away.

I also got to drive an Abrams tank and play in an Apache helicopter simulator, where I crashed into a lake.

I keep finding guns, too. I've had a lot of my dad's stuff in boxes, and found three or four guns recently when I was reorganizing boxes.

Well yeah, why would they care if people lose their guns?

I’ve shot a few different ones over the years. 20 gauge was my first real gun on my first hunting trip for doves in Mexico. 20 gauge side by side Winchester. I was breaking my hunting cherry and was tricked into shooting a 10 gauge. Knocked me on my ass and a nice bruise. A 45 Tommy gun that was used in WWII. Pretty good with a 22 pistola. When I had 20/20 vision I was deadly with a bow and arrow.

Few people are anti-Second Amendment. I'm of the opinion a mentally disturbed 18-year-old shouldn't be able to go to the gun store and buy an AR15.

what does mentally disturbed mean?  I would say people with extreme TDS like you are mentally disturbed, yet I wouldn't take away your rights to defend yourself

Thinking T-pump is a dangerous ass and a nationwide embarrassment is healthy.

Being in denial and making excuses for him as the legal walls close in is not mentaly healthy.

It wouldn't surprise me if I had more guns than all the other posters here combined.

K sure guy. You’ve spent 8 years of your life obsessed with a guy who took it away from your poor Hillary. He wasnt dangerous when he was president and he’s not dangerous now. Save your rhetoric

so you as a I have more guns than everyone combined. Think you should be able to have them confiscated cause someone might label you mentally unstable

I mean if republicans hold office and we submit all your psychotic posts to who ever is in charge you might be considered a threat to others and yourself.

we all know you’ll be on suicide watch if he wins again

I totally agree. There's a lot of things that a mentally disturbed 18 year old shouldn't be able to buy. Look at France, they're stabbing each other to death.

Have to be 21 to buy a gun. More thorough background checks to keep guns out of crazy people's hands.

Nothing unreasonable about that.
