Give me your 14 playoff teams

Recommended Posts

Well it is that time so why not do a quick prediction thread before they kick this off.

Seed them if you wish.  Or not.  Don't care.  Tell me who makes the playoffs.

In order of seeds for me

Chiefs Bills Jags Bengals Steelers Jets Browns

9ers Eagles Lions Saints Cowboys Seahawks Packers

AFC is a buzzsaw.   Tua gets hurt again.  The Skins will be a little better than people expect but play in the only decent division in the NFC.  The Bears still suck.

Cmh may just be a Bills hater but I have seen many "pundits" down on thr Bills this year.

I myself don't get it.  Maybe they can't get over the hump but they have been one of the most consistent teams on the league.  Their losses are by slim margins beating themselves.   I would say their roster is better than ot has been.

I don't have 2 favorite teams.  MDC is either retarded or trolling.  Likely both.

I was joking, because you were a NJ Chargers fan until changing to the Giants in 2006.

Injuries can scramble a lot of teams.  As a general rule, assume 4-6 new playoff teams from year to year

Afc: chiefs, bengals, bills, chargers,   Jaguars, steelers, patriots

tough luck awards to browns jets

nfc: eagles, 49ers, cowboys, seahawks, lions saints giants

I'm on the fence with Green Bay and Love.  If he's actually good, not just better than average, they could win 11 games,  if he's "meh", they could be at 8 wins.... so I split the difference.  If he sucks (that I find to be unlikely), well, they're looking at a top 5 pick.

I think that whole division could fall in the 10 to 12 win range.  They get the AFC West and NFC South this year.  I think KC & LAC win 12+ games, the 6 teams in those two divisions could all have a losing record.

I think teams like Dallas, LAR, and Seattle end up in the 8 to 9 win range.

What do you see in the Bears?  They owned the 1st pick last season.  I understand Fields has potential if a light clicks on passing.  But even if he takes a modest jump, is that enough to enter the realm of good from total doormat? They added a few pieces no doubt.  I think they will be better.  Would be downright shocked if they made the playoffs even in a bad NFC.  Defense was putrid.  Oline still a big concern.  Added a dj moore but whats his impact?

You aren't that alone there.  I haven't seen that many make thr playoffs takes.  But the consensus is they will be much improved.  Shorter odds to win the division than GB.

Rodgers was below average last year and the Packers won 8 games.

In 2-3 years duh Bears are going to regret trying to build around Fields instead of drafting his successor when they had the #1 overall. He SUCKS as a passer. But I drafted him in fantasy because I like starting a RB who throws as my QB.

I think Fields makes a big jump in his development this year.  I think the additions of Claypool last year (and now having an offseason to work with the team), and more importantly, DJ Moore who gives him a legit reliable pass catching option will allow both the offense and Fields improve and be more productive.  I think that the improved offense really improves the defense because they won't be on the field as much and won't have the same pressure as last year.  I think the two DB's they added last year in the draft will be better with a year under their belt along with the additions from this years draft will also improve the defense.

The funny thing is, yes they added some pieces but they lost some pieces as well. If you point to David Montgomery, I feel like bears fans would say hes not a big loss, Herbert is better, they picked up Foreman, etc... but most everyone else feels like he was a tremendous add for Detroit. Edmunds and Edwards are solid linebackers and DJ Moore will be the best receiver Fields has had... but I don't think the team makes a big leap unless Fields makes a very big leap as a passer and runs the ball a bit less to avoid injury.

The giants have zero chance of winning their division. Anyone that knows that team and a little bit about football knows that. Getting a wc spot is going to be difficult for them.

11 AFC teams are. 500, and only 7 in the NFC. How are yall doing at the halfay point?

I definitely under estimated the Ravens, and the Dolphins to a lesser extent. Did pretty well picking NFC teams expect for the sh1tty Giants.

Not bad. Jets would obviously be in the mix with  Rodgers. Atlanta was looking good then some ugly losses. Everyone else seems squarely in it if not favored.

No:

Jets, Chargers, Bengals

Maybe:

Jaguars, Bills, Vikings, Saints, Giants

Missed:

Ravens, Dolphins, Rams

I don't really know as much about football as I think I know.  I really whiffed on the Ravens and Dolphins.

None of my picks that are already in were any sort of surprises. Ravens may not have been a total chalk pick.

QB matters. I still believe the Jets make it with Rodgers. I think it would have been realistic to expect 10-6 rather than 6-10. I even think if our moronic front office had stuck with Zach, they might be 8-8.  Bengals did darn well for themselves with Browning. Gotta believe they make it with Burrow. Also believe the Vikings make it with Cousins.

I would guess this ends up being  9 right, 5 wrong.

browns with Flacco coming off the couch?

texans with a rookie qb

rams everyone said we’re rebuilding

Minshew leading the colts

baker leading the bucs

For me, not Cleveland. I know they lost Nick Chubb but we knew they had a strong rushing scheme in general (Hunt, D'Ernest Johnson etc), as well as a fairly stingy defense. I might be more surprised that Watson had them in position than I am in Flacco bringing it home.

Minshew just has that ability, I think, and since I wasn't someone who thought Richardson would make an impact right away, I am less shocked.

This has to be Baker's best supporting cast, yeah?

i'd say it's between Texans and Rams and i'm giving the nod to Houston because this is a rookie QB and rookie HC (versus a Super Bowl winning QB and HC) and going into the season you'd have said they don't have a Cooper Kupp or an Aaron Donald
