I sit and wonder. Why the Red Sox can't get players like Eovaldi and Schwarber

Not many players bat >.200 while hitting 40+ HRs. ;)

I'm rooting for AZ, thought, I'm happy with Texas.  When the playoffs started, I put in 3 bets.... Phillies to beat the Astros ($10 bet at +2200), AZ to beat Texas ($5 bet at +5300), and Texas to beat AZ ($5 bet at +4100).

What were the odds of a Dback Rangers series before the season started?  That would have been some bet!

Let's go D-Backs.

As a secondary Mets fan, I definitely don't want to see bitch ass DeGrom IL his way to a ring. Would love to see Longoria get his

To think Boche was there for the taking and Cashman stuck with his pal/lackey Boone.

Boone played the last time the Yankees were relevant.

Do you think it would have made much of a difference given the roster? I'm not exactly a Boone fan but Cashman assembled that monstrosity of a roster :dunno:.  Texas has some fiery young players and the high priced veterans (at least the position players) stay on the field.  I'm not sure how much a better manager could have done with guys like Donaldson, DJ, Stanton and his .191 average, and how long did it take them to finally cut bait on Hicks?

Cashman gotta go

I do love me some Kyle Schwarber. And now every time I see him I will think of the video that's been going around comparing him running the bases to Ted.

My wife says he reminds her of Matt Stairs and I sort of see it.

Yeah, probably in the range of +40000 I'd guess.

I don't have any problem with this series, though it would be nice to see the Rangers win their first championship...

However the TV ratings will probably be pretty low...

I really thought the Phillies were going to beat the Astros.  But I always put a bet or 2 in on teams that I think are reasonable long shots.  I put in Arizona over Texas, but then my brother said that if you're only betting $2, just take the flipside incase you have the right teams, but not the right order.

Last year I had the Astros beating the Phillies... I think we had a Shark Tooth contest last year on that and I won the shark tooth!!!  Anyway, my "long shot" bet didn't remotely have the success.  I had St. Louis & Cleveland.  :dunno:

They won the WS years after he left.  I only wish that Boone didn’t play basketball and they never took A-Rod in a salary dump. Typical Cashman. Offer him a big name and he’ll take it, no matter the fit. Takes Stanton when most of the team he had was right handed. Jeter laughed.

Yeah I like the Red Sox but my second favorite is the Yankees

You can't compare the Rangers-Astros rivalry to Sox-Yankees, son.

early 2000s Red Sox vs Yankees was unlike any rivalry I can recall. Must watch TV. When ESPN was still watchable.

Cmon man... if you need to pick a team, go with the DBacks who built largely through their system and strategic smaller acquisitions.  Their largest salary by 2X, Mad Bum, was released early in the season.  Marte has the highest salary on the team at $11M this year.

I had no idea until recently how hateful Rangers fans are toward the Astros.

It reminds me of going to Waco to see an Aggie-Bears game and realizing how much Baylor hated A&M. I had no idea we were their biggest rival.

A couple I know in Houston went to Game 7, and a Rangers fan dumped a bag of peanuts on them as the game ended. Out in the parking lot, Rangers fans were loudly talking sh!t, taunting Astros fans and even trying to pick fights with them. I'm seeing a lot of Rangers-fan hate toward the Astros on social media.

The Astros have only been in that division since 2013, so there hasn't been much time for a rivalry to fester, particularly since neither team has been great simultaneously until now.

I'm still happy to see the Rangers in the World Series and hope they win it.

This is simple for me.

Cruzer is a Rangers fan, he used to be in Edex and I would have rooted for them.

Jerruh is a Dbags fan and is currently in Edex.

I am rooting for the DBags

Then again, Rangers fans will be insufferable if they win, just like Cowboys fans.

Yeah, folks are billing it as a chance to beat Dallas.  Cowboys still have a huge fanbase here, and Suns inexplicably lost to the Mavs a few years back (and Luca is a whiny biotch), so there is something of a Dallas hatred.  Nothing like the LA hatred though, and the DBacks already took care of them.

I'm a fairweather Texans fan after so many years spent as a loyal Oilers fan, but my favorite NFL usually is whoever is playing the Cowboys on any given week.

One of the fun things about the DBacks is that they have earned the nickname "Answer Backs."  Their ability to come back from deficits has been uncanny, and has been on display throughout the playoffs.  Even yesterday they turned a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 victory.

84 wins in the regular season. MLB season had been rendered meaningless. This is a bad thing for baseball.

Then you are prolly (also) late to the game how hateful Stros fans are to Rangers fans. This recent run has made HOU fans insufferable - they act like they invented the game.......... I was at Boomerjacks for Game 6, Stros fans were openly yelling 'Fk Tx!" during the game several times. When the cops showed up, they cooled it a bit.

2011, Dallas Mavericks start their playoff run... 1st Rd, Portland - I had us losing in 6.....2nd Rd, Lakers - I had Kobe sweeping us.....Conference Finals, OKC - had Durant/Westbrook beating us in 6.....NBA Finals, Miami - had Le Flop/D. Wade beating us in 6................. Somehow my Mavs weathered all the (and the odds) and won the title.

This Rangers team is a mirror image of that Mavs team. Every series, I saw no way we could advance - yet we did. To think this team managed to get to here, with all the injuries and flat out SHIITY bullpen, is just mind blowing.

No way in hell am I picking us now, no way am I changing anything up. Give me the D-Backs in 6!   :D

Not sure if this has been brought up but the current MLB playoff structure is horrible.  MLB has the longest regular seasons in all of sport.  162 games.  It’s to find the best team pitching staff over time, the most consistent hitters, and a manager who juggles it all.

Then the post season consists of the best teams getting over a week off.  While that may seem like a plus to football or basketball fans,  that is a killer for a baseball team.  They play every other day for 7 months , pitching rotations, longevity and consistency.  Over a week off when you’ve played that long is like icing a field goal kicker.

Then the second round is a 5 game series not a 7 game.  WTF?

MLB needs to rethink the post season.

yes, it's been brought up. It's also more than what you mentioned too. I agree with all your points but I will also add that 162 games and making the playoffs should not potential have your season end in a best of 3 first round series.

Admittedly I am a jaded Rays fan who watched my team have the 4th best record in baseball, but because they played in the AL East, Houston got to sit home while the Rays got bounced in 2. Yes, they should have taken care of business, at home (if you can call it home), but baseball playoff series have momentum swings. Hard to see one of those in a 3 game series.

If anything, and if they don't want to take a page out of the NBA's book as far as seeding, then at least make that first round best of 5. The DS and CS can then be best of 7 each.

Yeah, the Rangers are the little engine who can, with the help of that $200M payroll.  Maybe you can spend another $100M on your bullpen next year and be even more of an underdog.  😉
