Its disgusting what they've done since the old man died.  Top pick after top pick and they cant seem to field a lineup thats worth a crap.  They sign one big free agent and he becomes one of the biggest busts in recent memory.

Yeah, I could never understand why Detroit was always so bad... both Chicago teams too.  There's no reason why they both can't be in the top 10 in payrolls AND compete every year.

I am curious where the human trafficking charges come into play.  Supposedly a 14 yr old girl when he was 21, in the Domincan Republic. Reminds me of all the cases of teachers and students over here. Supposedly he also paid the girls mother to let the relationship continue. Does the trafficking come into play because of that? I suppose it makes sense but doesn't sound like he was involved in some sort of human trafficking ring.  A completely weird and F'ed up situation and I am not trying to excuse him by any means, I am just curious about the trafficking charges specifically.

The Yankees are way on the other end of firing people to quickly.

GMs and Coaches/Managers in sports are never given enough time. Especially in baseball. Christ, when you draft someone in baseball, it takes what on average, 3 to 5 years (unless you are dubbed can't miss) to make it to the big leagues?

I feel like baseball managers and GMs get fairly long leashes. Probably a bit of that has to do with exactly what you mentioned... but GM's also have to build via trades and free agency where possible and managers have to be liked by the players. With all the analytics, their jobs have become much less important... but still more important than any NBA coach.

The yankees give guys way too much time. But I also can't really think of many teams off the top of my head in baseball that turn over coaches or GMs at an NFL style rate.  (the mets recently come to mind)

Not a fan of 40 pitches. I think it puts a little too much importance on the BP pitcher where a bad pitch, you could just take previously and it would just waste a few seconds.
