I usually try to be careful about separating liberals from leftists, and I'll do that again, but this time to criticize liberals.  This is a classic liberal fallacy, the inability to see unintended consequences.  

I also don't see them as villains.  Their home countries generally suck, and we're willing to take them in, give them free stuff, and put their kids through our schools.  Hell, I'd try to do the same.  But that doesn't mean we should allow it, or allow them to stay.

To note, I don't think it's inhumane to separate them to verify that the kids belong to those "parents".  We don't need trafficker's coming into this country.  I think it's MORE inhumane to have kidnapped kids come into this country so that the kidnapper can pretend to be a concerned/deprived parent.

Separating families is wrong. Putting kids in cages is wrong. It doesn’t matter who does it. Trump is far worse than any other President because his policies and rhetoric are shaped by bigotry, ignorance, and racism. 

We don’t have the means to immediately take in 1.8 million people- that’s too many for our social services short term, and that’s why we need to prevent it- for now. Long term we have plenty of room, these people are mostly a positive and we need immigration reform to take them in and millions more. They are not the threat to our country- but those that consider them a threat are themselves the true threat, IMO.

You carefully avoided the main issue. Let me be more specific: 

There are currently millions of people in this country without legal documents. Many of them have been here for years or decades. Former President Trump proposes to use the military to find them, round them all up, put them in camps and then deport them. Perhaps up to 15-20 million people. Men, women, children. Some who have served in our military. Others college graduates. The plan will cost billions and alienate the entire world,
