Could Trump go to prison?

It's unlikely, but not impossible.

Sentencing is at the judge's discretion. While jail is an option, it's not usually assigned for this type of crime in Manhattan, legal experts and former prosecutors point out, especially for first-time offenders. Each count of falsifying business records carries a maximum of four years in prison. Trump was convicted on 34 counts. Lighter punishments, like probation, could also be on the table.

In my personal opinion, if I was convicted of 34 felonies and had attacked the judge and his family, calling the judge a devil and all that, I would expect that I would be going to prison for at least a short stint.

I think he deserved to be in prison but not for this.  I always felt he should have been in prison for his business dealings and treatment of women before he ever ran for President.

Let's set a precedent that any political opponent can be charged for crimes; especially past (or even potential future) presidents. 

Let's do it so that either side has to go through this. I would LOVE to see members on all sides in prison. Because I bet there are a LOT more that would go to prison for a lot longer than four years. 

But when it's your guy on the other side of the bars, you don't get to b!tch and moan about it. Because this is where we are now, and certain people weren't going to stop until this happened, and here we are.

I don't think so.  I wouldn't be shocked given how he's acted and what he's said about the judge and his family, and he wouldn't be the first person to go to prison in NY for falsifying business records, but I still wouldn't like to see it.  The other cases, yeah, but not for this.

Is this enough for him to be in prison, no.  There hasn't been enough evidence to convict him.  That doesn't change my opinion though.

Not really.  It's about whether Trump should be in jail or not.

I'd love to see all politicians in jail that deserve to be there.  Maybe our government would run better if they had some real consequences.

All of you guys are such cynics. Let’s be clear: 

1. Trump is an anomaly. He’s a really corrupt dude. In American history there’s been only a tiny handful of politicians who have reached his level of corruption. Biden isn’t close to being one of them. Not suggesting Biden is pristine (I’ve no idea) but he’s nowhere near to the Trump level. Biden doesn’t deserve to be anywhere near prison (but Bob Menendez does.) 

2. Most politicians, on both sides, are not corrupt. Most of them are ambitious, selfish and power hungry but that’s not the same thing. They generally do want to serve those who voted them into office. I believe this. 

3. This constant “throw the bums out” mentality is terrible for this country. It defeats all long term planning and creates chaos. If somebody really commits a crime then sure get rid of them. But we don’t need to get rid of most of them.
