Geek Ball Spinoff League

ed came up with a great idea. We all draft 2 NFL teams and you can start anyone from those teams to fill in your lineup. Waivers are for dropping a team and picking up another. You guys in?

In for sure

I'm not part of it but I have two friends who are in an 8 team league with more or less that kind of format. 4 round draft for all 32 NFL teams. Rosters are normal size, iirc since free agents are exclusive. No trades unless its trading full rosters   Team A trades the Cowboys to Team B for the Bills.   I know one year they had an issue where two owners traded during a bye week and then traded back.   All teams are owned so they have no waivers but i can't imagine waivers would be used very often even with 12 owners drafting 2  NFL teams.

It's fairly low effort since its basically a short draft and then setting a weekly lineup.

I'd do it for a low stakes buy in

Interested

Did something like this a long time ago, 8 owners, randomly assigned NFL divisions.  Was okay, pretty minimal effort since you didn't have to scour the waiver wire, just make sure you lineup was set each week.

looks like you got 3 in   -  edjr, BL and WW

3 interested  - Twinsdad and pimp  (plus helltoupee as a new person)

2 not interested plus horsenuts is mia.

probably best to just get 8-10 degens and draft 3 or 4 teams.

If we get 8 and all draft 4, we won't have to worry about waivers. Just set your lineup each week.

4 teams will solve the byes. But I like the idea of people having to deal with the bye and potentially Waiver a good team for a filler.

Dealing with bye weeks is an interesting element. That's what lead to the collusion I mentioned in my first post... one owner drafted 3 teams with the same bye so when that week came along his buddy traded with him which didn't get any scrutiny until they traded back a week later.

if you want waivers to come into play then you'll need 10-12 owners with a 2 round draft or 8 owners with a 3 round draft.

Simple - No trade backs.

oh, I'm not suggesting we would have the same problem, and it was easily squashed in that league anyway.

How often do trades actually happen in a regular league. I highly doubt any happen here

I am in no matter what because it's very low maintenance.   So whatever you guys decide in terms of number of owners and number of draft rounds is fine with me.  i dont care if we have all teams owned or enough teams to make waivers viable.   I'm in.

I haven't made a trade in the 2 years of this league. Made 0 in my 1k league last year as well.

I'm good either way as well. I think we need to talk logistics too. As far as I know, none of the websites offer this type of format do they? If not some of this like EdEx will need to be manual. I would offer up these suggestions.

Have the draft here on the forearm.

commish (best if we have multiple with commish hat on) loads up the rosters after the draft onto the website.

Waiver order will need to be tracked manually. After a drop/add a commish goes in and drops all players for team A and replaces with players from team B

I would make this suggestion for lineup if we only draft 2 teams.

QB

RB

WR

WR

TE

Flex

Def

K

If we have 3 or 4 teams a 2nd RB could be added.

I think you need either a second running back or a second flex like the geek ball league

hold the draft in a thread here like edex and then whoever sets up the league on ESPN can manually enter the off-line draft results. You can enter any players for the rosters. It doesn’t really matter… so when Ed takes the Panthers first overall and you go to enter his roster, just fill it up with Panthers. Everyone is going to be adjusting based on their available free agents anyway.

Oh and for waivers (if we have them)

the order would start as as reverse of draft order with a claim putting you at the back of the line. We can designate QB as the waiver position or something. If I want to claim the Panthers and drop the Packers, I can just claim Bryce Young and drop Jordan Love. And then when free agency opens I must drop all my Packers.

I see what you’re saying. I think WW will have to be done on the board or via text

Could do that too but if you designate the QB as claiming the new team and you and I both want the Panthers after week 1, we both put in a claim for Bryce Young and whoever has higher priority gets him.

2 round snake draft

start 1QB, 1RB, 2WR, 1TE, 1 FLX, 1K, 1DST.

7 bench just so we don’t have to be constantly add/dropping

I guess scoring could be same as the geek balls

trading only allowed if its entire NFL teams

QBs represent the NFL teams for waiver purposes

Draft on forum, results entered manually

———————————

in the event of 8 owners and drafting 3-4 NFL teams, add 1 more flex to the starting lineup

I would think defenses would be better for waivers since it is the team name…

Thought about that but then realized most owners probably wouldn’t roster both their owned defenses and potentially not have the defense of the team you wish to drop. 🤷🏻‍♂️. I dunno
