Liberals have to lie else they would have absolutely nothing to boast about in life.

I am old enough to remember when Republicans and those on the right honored and thanked those who serve in the military. Now we see a thread with a lie about Walz's military service (which has been proven false but the title has yet to be corrected) and comments like the above (although maybe that should be expected after Trump's reported remarks on those who serve or have served).

Another gem.  Walz was a bad choice.

Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN), Vice President Kamala Harris's running mate, knew he was going to deployed and used a "backdoor process" to get around his immediate superior in order to get his retirement approved.

His superior, former Minnesota National Guard Command Sgt. Maj. Doug Julin, explained to CNN those details.

I read today that Walz could have retired after 20 years but, after 9/11, decided to re-enlist. Then after 24 years he thought he could do more in Congress for veterans than he could continuing to serve. He was on the Veterans committee for several year.

This story is going nowhere.

I'm amazed that they are running with it (since Trump avoided the draft entirely with fake bone spurs) and actually expect to become some sort of major issue.

Talk about a nothing burger.

Except he decided to retire as soon as he found out his unit was going to be deployed.

Serving 24 years during peace time is absolutely commendable as you never know when sh!t might jump off.

Bailing on your unit when you find out sh!t is about to get real is buIIshit.

I like how these m************ that have never served a day in their life think they know all about the service. I guarantee you The men of that unit have a very different story then what non-serving Tim says.

I never served, it's one of the few regrets I have in life. I think it would've done me some good.

I have a lot friends that did, though, and I know how they feel about sh!t like this.

Nobody would be dragging him if only he didn't lie about what he actually did.

He and I spent the same amount of time down range carrying weapons of war.

This guy pretty much sums up the concensus opinion of what I've heard about Walz.

You know, fraudsters like Tim don't understand that you need to serve honorably. There is more to it than just reading the words.  When the time came for the rubber to hit the road walz bailed like a coward.

I guarantee you that is what the men of his unit remember, not some piece of paper.

Ultimately, yes, but how he left is the story.

I agree.

Instead of lying about carrying weapons of war in Iraq, he should be telling the truth about all the lives he saved by bailing on his unit when they got deployed.

He'd have more credibility.

Well, if he didn't, please explain what happened to those bone spurs? They kept him out the draft and then miraculously healed on their own.

And?  What does that have to do with Walz ducking active duty?

Shows that he doesn't like Walz and possibly has an axe to grind with him, so what he says must be taken with a grain of salt (to use another metaphor).

Probably has zero respect for Walz for avoiding getting deployed then acting like he was on the battlefield.  Those things don`t fly with veterans.

I can confirm with you that even within the military we distinguish between those who have actually been in combat and those that haven't.  Some guy doing Admin in Montana or going out on base once a month for practice is certainly a veteran and should be respected, but those that have actually been in combat theatres have a little more respect and will most certainly call another member out for even trying to imply they were in combat when they weren't.  Most guys who have never seen combat or been in a combat theatre typically DO NOT act like that around other service members.  It's only when they get out or are around civilians who don't know any better when they try to pull that stuff if they have no integrity.

Walz retired from the Minnesota National Guard in May 2005. He had submitted retirement paperwork five to seven months beforehand, Fox News reported, citing the Minnesota National Guard.

In March 2005, Walz's battalion had been notified about a possible deployment to Iraq within two years, Walz's congressional campaign said in a news release that month, citing the National Guard Public Affairs Office. The Minnesota National Guard said the battalion then received an official order about mobilizing for deployment to Iraq in July 2005, after Walz retired.

So let's take a look at this "lie" about his deployment to Afghanistan.  Here's a transcript of what he said.

Quote

And both of you with your keen understanding of how this works, especially from National Guard families, I can tell you this, having been one of those that came back, we were in support of OEF, but being sitting in there with OEF, OIF veterans, when we came back, they showed us the horse whisper and told us to be nice when we went home.

And that was the extent of it. That was in 2004. Now, I'm proud to say that because of the people sitting in here and people who came before me, things have changed over the last four years. They have not changed enough.

But Mr. Kennedy is following and moving something forward that the late Senator from Minnesota, Senator Wellstone, advocated so clearly mental health parity and this issue of destigmatizing mental health, of understanding and I being in there and knowing as a first sergeant, knowing exactly what you're saying. And watching as people aren't trained on this, that there is a discrimination that goes against a soldier who has the courage, the fortitude, and as you said, the insight to admit this.

Quote

On Aug. 3, 2003, Walz and his battalion were deployed to Italy to support U.S. operations in Afghanistan under Operation Enduring Freedom. Walz returned to Minnesota in April 2004, Augé said.

So he did go overseas in support of OEF, like he said and he sat with vets who had PSTD.  If you are saying he lied, it's because you are inferring things from what he said that he didn't.

That Hog boy did a heel turn on Walz

.@Tim_Walz used to be supported by the NRA and took money from them. But after the Parkland shooting his daughter, Hope asked he do all he could to fight gun violence. In response Walz not only denounced the NRA & gave all the money he ever took from them to charity. Since then he’s passed multiple gun laws as governor of Minnesota
