Caleb Williams is the real deal.

Recommended Posts

My son was pretty excited after watching Williams.  He was upset that Fields was traded but he's getting pretty fired up about Williams now.  I love that he's becoming a die hard.  Hope he's ready for a lifetime of disappointment though.

Seems like he was loving disappointment if he wanted Fields to stay.  Not sure how old he is.

He's 15 and I wanted him to stay too.  I liked Fields, he was fun to watch.  It's all over now and we're excited for the new season.

I think he was more upset that his Fields jersey is worthless now. 😂  We're planning on getting Tory Taylor jerseys this year.

Why a lifetime of disappointment? You think the Bears are bottom dwellers?

There hasn't been a whole lot of success in my 41 years of being a fan.  Going through the amount of QBs we have is a major disappointment.  Hoping this is a turning point this season.

Well shlt, unless you just bail on the team what's the point of being doom and gloom.  Yeah it sucks the Bears have only been to 2 superbowls since '85, but they are well on the rise now.

I have been a Blackhawks fan since I was out of the womb and they ended up winning 3 Cups in 6 years. It was glorious. I have been a Cubs fan just as long and it was awesome experiencing 2016.

Right now the Bears might have the best receiving group in the NFL, an above average OL, a decent DL on the rise, a stellar LB crew and secondary group, and pretty top notch special teams play.  And a QB that may just be pretty darn good. Don't let the sour grapes bring you down.

I'm not doom and gloom.  I'm a loyal fan and will never change my teams.  I'm also a realist though.

Like I said, I have hope that this season things are going to turn around.

That's what I was refering to:dunno:

My co-worker is a Bears fan and every day I live this thread for real.  Yesterday, he told us Caleb is "the chosen one".  Preseason Bear fans are funny.

Every 3 years we have a new QB to get excited about.

I dont think Foam has went too overboard to be fair.  He has acknowledged it is very early.  Fields also got going early.

After the game, Fields was asked about adjusting to the speed of the NFL game. But for Fields, he didn’t seem fazed.

”It was actually kind of slow to me to be honest,” he told reporters after the game.

Bears rookie quarterback Justin Fields made his highly-anticipated debut Saturday against the Dolphins, where he helped lead Chicago to a 20-13 victory at Soldier Field.

While Fields got off to a rocky start, he quickly settled in and was able to orchestrate three consecutive scoring drives, which highlighted his impressive skillset, namely his mobility and his natural arm talent.

Fields completed 14-of-20 passes for 142 yards and a touchdown for a 106.7 passer rating. He added five rushes for 33 yards and a score. But it wasn’t the stats that told the story, it was the eye test. For his first NFL game action, Fields looked poised, despite some struggles on the offensive line and receivers struggling to find separation.

He can throw it downfield, right?

He's looking not to shabby tonight, had only 90 yards last week and has that already in the 1st half.

Given the Bears oline problems, he's doing great for a guy in the second game of his career. He did miss a big throw but then again, Stroud did too.

It appears he struggles with the downfield pass at this point.

I like C Williams, I’ve had the Seahawks def and Texans def on bot( of my 14 team ff teams.  He’s a true giver.  Keep up the good work.

I think they play the Colts next, mmm thinking about picking the Colts, or the def Playing the Panthers.

If the Bears don't find a way to protect him better, he won't last long.  7 sacks?  It's only a matter of time

They could have taken CJ Stroud last year.  That must have sucked for the fans seeing 'What if' last night.  :(

I like to give QBs two games before deciding whether they’ll ever amount to anything.

Trust the process

To be fair, they might have picked Bryce Young or A-Rich. And they did land DJ Moore in the process.

But it also means they were still trusting Fields to be the guy OR if he busted, already looking to the Caleb draft class.

Name a QB the bears have ever drafted high and developed. That is a major part of this.

Fields 2 and 0.

They simply used Fields to get through a rebuild. They didn't trust him. So the latter.

The problem the Bears are showing is their online and offensive coordinator early on.  Time will tell if they can fix it.  Williams will be a very good QB. Hell, he had like 36 pressures against Houston and still lifted his completion % by  about 15 points from week one.

It was eight points, from 48 to 56.

ESPN believes Bears QB Caleb Williams is set up for immediate success

Quote

ESPN believes Williams has been set up for immediate success in his rookie season. And it's easy to see why. General manager Ryan Poles has been carefully crafting an ideal situation for his new rookie quarterback

Yes, Williams easily has the best situation of any quarterback chosen No. 1, at least since 1980.
