Justin Fields > Caleb Williams?

Recommended Posts

Fields: 70.6% completion, 3 TDs 1 INT, 98.0 rating, 145 yards rushing and 3 TDs.

Caleb: 61.7% completion, 3 TDs 4 INTs, 72.0 rating, 79 yards rushing.

Were duh Bears holding Fields back from reaching his potential all along? It would be crazy if they traded a franchise QB to Pitt for a song, only to draft roon another generational talent at quarterback.

Chicago Bears are the only NFL team to have never had a quarterback throw for 4,000 yards in a season.

50 different quarterbacks have thrown for 4,000 yards in a season, a feat that has happened 130 times in total

Joe Namath did it in like 1936 or something

Williams is on pace to have the 5th most passing yards in franchise history.  That's with an extra game though.  The QB position in Chicago has always been a disaster.

Thats a wild stat when you realize they are 7th worst passing team in nfl in terms of yardage.

He's on pace to throw for about 3350 yards.  That would've made him the QB17 last year.  No bueno.

We're also talking about a rookie in his first 4 games compared to a QB in his 4th season.

If my teams QB was Jalen Hurts I’d  bite my tongue for a bit. Sometimes these QB’s Carson Wentz start a downward spiral and never come out of it. Sometimes it’s just a slump.  Best to wait and see.

Fields is on pace to throw for about 3530 yards this season.  Not much better.

That would be the 5th most single season passing yards all time for duh Bears, right after Jay Cutler 2015 and before Jay Cutler 2010.

Bears have the least amount of explosive plays in thr league so far.  (10+ yd runs, 20+ yd passes)

Harder to accomplish with a poor OL.

The weapons that Caleb Williams has this year are better than what Fields ever had and that is even without Keenan really seeing the field yet. Caleb holds the ball too long at times which is what everyone saw would be his issue in the NFL.

I was always of the thinking the Bears should've tried to trade that #1 pick to someone who needed a QB and then loaded up the offensive side of the ball behind Fields.

Yea.  I agree.  Many bad OLs in the league.  Not just the bears.

Also harder to accomplish with lesser QBs.

Both can be true.

I don't know what kind of QB he is yet.

Of course.  I've seen him make plenty of mistakes and poor throws.  I've also seen him make some great throws.  The talent is there.  There is plenty of time yet this season to see improvement.

One sort of surprising thing with Caleb so far this year is he looks hesitant to escape the pocket and run. He dances a lot trying to throw the ball but could easily bail out and pick up chunk plays

I thought we are just talking about stats thus far and how non explosive bears are on offense.

I could say I dont know what sort of OL you guys have yet either.

If you are blaming thr offense on the OL.  Yet say Caleb can improve....then you are saying the OL can also improve and shouldnt be judged yet.

There are throws and decisions that he can improve on.  The rest will depend on the OL giving him more time to throw.

I have no idea if Caleb will pan out. I just think it’s funny that Fields looks like a competent QB for the first time in his career after leaving Chicago.

It’s the Bears.  Drafted Qbs go to the Bears and die young.

You are entitled to question any teams QB until some other one gets 6.

Coaching and management can go a long way with good QB play.

I think Caleb Williams has looked pretty good so far.

Now that the training wheels are off fields in Pitt, I expect him to crash and burn. But maybe not, they are just a much much better organization

Caleb Williams is now on pace for 3706 passing yards this season.  That would place him 3rd in Bear's history.

no 4000 yard passers in a single season. How is that possible?

Because it's the Bears.  It's who they are.

Same.  I almost didn't open this, figuring it was going to be a bunch of troll posts and bites.

Williams has 2 games with over 300 yards passing while only playing 5 games.  Fields only accomplished it once in 3 years with the Bears.
