I think there have been at least a dozen tornadoes that have touched down already.  Lots of damage and flooding already and the hurricane hasn't even made landfall yet.

Are there really tornadoes? Or are they those tornadic water spouts that look like tornados only over water. I've seen those up close and personal. I lived in Florida for years and never heard of tornado problems there.

Actual tornadoes like you would see in the Midwest.  Some of them have been pretty large.

I'm not all about the global crisis either but I get why people are freaking out.  This storm isn't focking around.  There's also a pretty major fire in Wyoming that's been burning a few days.

Well, I like to eliminate the risk. I can deal with tornadoes in the midwest because they are pretty easy to run away from and the destruction is real, but it's centered. 

Hurricanes can affect your area for months. Earthquakes? No thanks. I refuse to even want to experience a small one. Floods...just suck. The home I grew up in flooded a couple times before my dad put in double high focking end sump pumps. Heavy snow? Shuts everyone down. Profit making industry for snow removals. 

It's all over the world. It has been since I was born. But holy hell, there is something about tornadoes that focking scare me. I guess it's because I've been lucky enough to live through some. Even after seeing them up close. In Florida, I just ran away when they said hurricanes  were coming. My company always paid for my expenses when I had to. But even if they didn't, fock that.

There have been over 100 tornado warnings already today.  Numerous tornadoes destroying central and eastern Florida.

Orlando - 5:30 pm... started raining hard about 3 hours ago and hasn't let up, but not too much wind yet. Supposed to hit us about 3 am or so. Hoping it's path across Central Florida slows down the wind some. Have to admit I rarely fear hurricanes in Orlando, but this is a stronger than I'm used to. Wife, daughter and dog will be sleeping together in the only bedroom with no windows tonight, but I won't be with them. I'll be wandering the house all night checking for roof leaks. Gonna be a long miserable night listening to the wind howling so hard you can hear the house make strange creaking sounds and wonder if the roof holds on. When ya dare look outside, ya see debris flying by at 100 mph and huge oak trees bending in ways they ain't supposed to bend.

Expecting to lose power around 12 am and probably out for a couple days. Got water in bathtubs in case we lose water too. Extra propane tanks to cook food next few days, cooler for food... and beer to drown my misery.

Just hope by morning no oak trees fell on the house, roof still on, and fences still standing. Beyond that, I'll be ok. Pray for Gobble.

Focking thing is moving at 15 MPH. When I was living in St. Pete, a hurricane cat 2 hit Miami and is slowly crossed all the way up through Florida until it turned into a tropical storm and sat over us for 3 days. Power was out for a week. Sucks.

What steps do you (can you) take if you do find a roof leak? I'm taking notes. The bathtub idea is solid.

Get bucket - empty bucket... patch roof next day.

Yeah, there isn't much you can do while the winds are pummeling. But at least try to keep water from ruining interior.
