Trump should have the option to serve 2 more terms as president if he wants it.

Recommended Posts

He was forced to beat 2 presidential candidates put out there by the Democrats. Both the sitting president and then the sitting vice president.

Sure there was only 1 actual election, but the liberals put one guy up there and Trump has to deal with that one, THEN, "Oh wait, psych!! We were just kidding. Now spend your time focusing on this other one. Let's see how you do with that."

No one should be able to serve more than once, and four years is to long.  Imo.

Nice troll (I'm assuming you're trolling because you're probably not this dumb), but everyone who wins a presidential election has to beat out multiple presidential candidates.

I told you all in other threads that he will never leave office in 2028 and will find someway to remain as POTUS as long as he is alive (and SCOTUS will back his decision).

Of course he won’t leave in 2028…. The inauguration of the 48th President will be January 2029…

You know what I meant to say. He will find someway to remain in office after his term starting in 2025 expires.

Trump will spend the next 4 years mentoring Vance. Even he doesn't want more than what the rules are in this country. Plus, I'm guessing he will want to relax for once.

No he won't. You are brainwashed if you believe that. 100%.

Only one more term.  But we should start carving out his place on Mount Rushmore now so it will be ready when his term expires.

Well, you must be brainwashed too, according to the thread title (that is what you want and that is what you may get).😁

So there is a minor loophole that could potentially be exploited, and I've seen some debate of this prior to Trump so it isn't a reactionary thing in this instance.

The amendment reads:

Quote

"No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once."

So the argument has been made that- in this case- that Vance could run for President in 2028 with Trump as his Vice President pick. Vance wins, and then at some point steps aside or down from the position. At that point, Trump would become President and he was not technically voted into office. Vance was voted in. There is some scholarly debate about it and there is some talk that language in the 25th amendment would be invoked to prevent it.

Additionally to note- if Trump were to choke on a Big Mac and die in 2025- Vance would take over as President but then could only be elected to 1 more term as President. If Trump choked on the Big Mac and die in 2028 then Vance could become President and run for two terms.

I would say there is a non-zero chance that at some point Trump floats amending the constitution so he can run to win a 3rd term.

Yup, and he's going to make you birth unwanted rape babies too. Better move to Canada before it's too late.

No. I don't, and Trump doesn't either. I started this joke thread because of your comments actually. 😆

Jeez. Just having a little fun.

I doubt you will still be laughing when he doesn't leave office in January 2029 (or maybe you will be cheering instead).

You have said it a million times. Duly noted. But it won't happen and I doubt in 4 years people will be on this site calling you out on it.

I made that argument back right after the Biden debate debacle and said he should run again, but make Obama his V.P. with the promise he would step down immediately. It wasn't received well.

I swear all this fear about Trump becoming a dictator is ALMOST making me a Trump fan. Not reallly; I detest the guy because he is corrupt, inept, has terrible policies and is an awful human being. But some of those in the media and some folks here need to calm down. He is not a fockin Hitler wannabe.

I’m looking at you @squistion. I like you, I agree with you most of the time and appreciate your posts. But stop with the fearmongering. There’s plenty to dislike about Trump without trying to spread this crap. It’s not only dumb, it’s weak sauce. Our side got our asses kicked royally. We need to accept that and move on. This isn’t the way to do it.

Wouldn't surprise me if it did. You already said you want all the ongoing Trump trials ended and the 34 felony convictions dismissed.

I do, because they don’t serve the best interests of our country.
Trump won the popular vote. You get that right? It’s not the outcome I wanted but it’s the outcome. It’s the equivalent of a national pardon. He is who the people want. The people know about these charges and they don’t care. So be it.

No it isn't. That was the main reason he ran again so he can avoid prosecution for his crimes. He will have the justice department end all pending federal cases leaving only the New York and Georgia state cases. Winning the popular vote doesn't excuse and eleminate all criminal conduct before he takes office next year.

But I thought the founding fathers were all slave owning racists who destroyed the Indians in this country? And they should all be vilified. I'm getting confused with the liberal messaging now.
