Take this for what it's worth, and there are certainly several similar people on "my side" -- you are very much a "last word guy."  When I see threads extended by one or more pages by two people trying to get the last word in, I don't find that riveting discussion, and just start fapping my scroll wheel.  JMO.

Matt Gaetz’s failed nomination is a prime example of how Trump always arrogantly over-plays his hand. He doesn’t think things through. That was a trend throughout his presidency. His impulsive, foolish moves provide openings for his opposition. He’s not as strong as he seems.

Gaetz was phenomenal in his questioning while on the Judiciary committee. It was really impressive. I figured all the allegations against him were a smear campaign since they'd gone on forever and Garland's hyper partisan Justice Department never charged him with anything. Maybe not. I'd not realized the House had been investigating him too. Also, Markwayne Mullen is a reliable source with no reason to throw Gaetz under the bus and yet he had some disturbing things to say.  Not every piece of smoke blown by the Democrats comes from a smoke machine. There may well be something there.

Hopefully Trump finds somebody just as tenacious but with a cleaner personal history.

Nope, I'm going to pass if the job is offered.  On balance simply not worth it.  I am willing, though, to consider an ambassadorship to a south pacific island nation if the position comes with an official home with servants of the nubile female variety and with the ability to fly into and out of countries with full dipomatic immunity in my person and my "diplomatic pouch"  which would never be filled with Peruvian Marching Powder.  (Basically I'm Matt Gaetz without the smarmy face and with the self control to wait for young women to turn 18 and to consent without financial remuneration.

I don’t know too much about her. I know she’s really MAGA and was the Florida AG (which at least makes her more qualified than Gaetz.) She appears to have bought into the whole 2020 was stolen scam but I guess that’s a requirement these days.

Same for me, for much of my career.

It amazes me how low salaries are for these positions, yet we expect "good" people to do these jobs -- in this case, the chief prosecutor of the US -- getting paid less than a lawyer writing patents in a 9 to 5 cushy job.  Anyone who takes them on, does so with expectation of future grift to make real money.

Also, you get what you pay for.  In AZ, state reps make less than a Starbucks barista.  Then we are surprised when they pass stupid laws.  Every time a pay raise is proposed for our reps I vote for it, and every time it fails.  People don't understand this concept.
