President-elect Trump sued The Des Moines Register and pollster J. Ann Selzer on Monday over a poll released just before Election Day indicating Vice President Harris had a sizable lead in Iowa. 

The poll found Harris leading Trump in Iowa by 3 percentage points days before Trump won the Hawkeye State by 14 percentage points as voters sent him back to the White House. 

Trump’s lawsuit, filed in Iowa state court in Polk County, accuses the outlet and pollster of violating Iowa’s consumer fraud laws by engaging in deception. 

“Selzer’s polling ‘miss’ was not an astonishing coincidence — it was intentional,” the complaint states. 

The lawsuit asks for an unspecified amount of damages and an order preventing the pollster from “releasing any further deceptive polls” and compelling them to disclose information they relied upon in publishing the November survey.

But this is different…  Suing because a poll had predicted that he was behind in a state?  Oh the horror…

Most sane people ignore polls…. But maybe Harris backers did not go to vote because they thought she was a lock…

Yeah this seems a bit dubious, to me.  I'm guessing this will be rejected quickly unless they have some absolute incontrovertible proof that they release the poll to try to influence the election.

That's wishful thinking. They had a pretty good case. They most likely would have won.  I don't know how you can claim otherwise unless you're just wish casting.

That's where the discovery portion of the lawsuit comes in to play.  At this point it's probably a suspicion.  Now they can get evidence.  That poll was such an outlier it's not out of the realm of possibilities that it was intended to influence the election.

Woah what????   We had a multiple page thread here during the campaigns doing nothing but talking about polls.  Over and over and over.   You are crazy if you think most sane people ignore polls.    People LIVE by them.  The media LIVES by them.  Jon Stewart cried about polling after the election.   Look at Timmy.   He believes every poll he sees...everytime.  The guy absolutely trusts them without question.   When this lady claimed Iowa was going to Kamala, the media went APE SHEET!!!

I agree completely with this post, but the prior one, I think @supermike80 is right.  For some reason, people blindly follow polls.  To me, the only poll that is valid, is the one at the end of election day.

I think Trump's objective here is to find information on how they're gathering data to create their polling numbers.  You and I agree that they're stupid, but both parties use them a lot.  If someone or some group is purposefully fixing the data to meet an agenda, then I think that's something that should be brought to light.  Trump won Iowa by 13%.  To have a poll come out just before the election and say that Harris had a sizeable lead tells me that there was some purposeful fudging of the numbers.

Had Trump barely squeak by in Iowa, then I think there's some merit to your prior post.  That said, I do think that if you say someone has a "sizeable lead", and that person loses, I think it falls outside the range of error.

Can you say "outlier"? If a poll turns out to be inaccurate that doesn't mean it was fradulent.

Correction. Tim only believes the polls when they show his candidate ahead. When they don't, they are considered outliers and should be ignored.
