weepaws 3,193 Posted January 19 Streets of the bay have looked like that long before Newsome, and it looks like a lot of city’s in America today, great job government, they will just keep on closing down America, and sending more people into the streets. This isn’t a California issue, it’s what the government wants to do , but people support it, by voting for this to continue on. Shame.

TheNewGirl 1,491 Posted April 3 Study finds that Gavin's policies are what make gas prices so high in CA; not oil/gas industry: https://ktla.com/news/california/policies-not-price-gouging-to-blame-for-californias-soaring-gas-prices-study-finds/ Quote Michael Mische with the USC Marshall School of Business recently published “A Study of California Gasoline Prices,” diving into the reason why California is typically the most expensive state in the U.S. to fill up your vehicle. The conclusion: California’s high gas prices are the “result of directed policies and a litany of regulations, taxes, fees, and costs,” according to Mische. By all means, let's vote this guy in for POTUS. Increase prices for everyone, not just CA.

The Real timschochet 6,765 Posted June 13 After this weekend I think Gavin Newsom has emerged as the leading Democratic politician and the frontrunner for 2028 for the Democratic Party. It’s interesting because only a week ago if you had asked me about him I would have told you that he had lost the base, and that therefore it seemed unlikely he’d be the guy. But circumstances have changed that. For better or worse he is being seen as the man who stands up to Trump, and that puts him way ahead of the pack.

The Real timschochet 6,765 Posted June 13 Anyhow if you look at the three most likely candidates according to the market: AOC certainly is a fine speaker, has charisma, has the Bernie crowd. But in the end Democratic politicians that are as leftist as she is NEVER win the nomination. Not one ever has to my memory. That doesn’t mean she couldn’t. 9 years ago I would have told you that an extreme conservative populist like Trump could never win the GOP and that happened. But I think this is even more unlikely. Buttigieg faces the same problem he faced in 2020: he’s gay. That makes his candidacy problematic in the southern Democratic primaries, which are dominated by black women voters who are for the most part religious conservative. I wish it were otherwise but it would be foolish to ignore it. Other people could emerge of course: Shapiro, Bashear, someone I’m not considering. But none have the name recognition of Newsom and it’s really blown up after this weekend. He has to be the frontrunner.

Would you agree that he’s the early frontrunner? Not if they want to win. Name recognition is usually a positive. Fortunately, enough sane Americans know his name and how he's rooned California. I don’t think he stands a chance in a national election. ETA: especially if Trump keeps deporting those illegal voters Biden imported.

Newsome is certainly the most popular dem right now. It does show how broken the party is if hes the guy. Hes a middle aged white man. Not exactly what the party wants as their leader. This by itself will cause fracturing within the party. But i do think that today, hes get smoked in the election.

TheNewGirl 1,491 Posted June 16 If he becomes POTUS, then you all really get what you vote for. He's a dictator. We've voted against SO many things that he's EO'd, pushed through, or done whatever he wants. Sadly, people don't see that. They just se him "fighting Trump." Wasting MILLIONS on suing the admin. So, yes, please vote for him so the entire nation can see how terrible he is and how he will literally create laws TELLING you what kind of lawn mower you can use. Welcome to a nation with national black outs during summer, gas prices that increase EVERYTHING (remember getting your food to the stores use gasoline or diesel), and if you have electric semis? Good luck with that.

Mainly he will be pre-occupied with undoing the damage Trump has done both domestically and internationally. Putting all else aide, on the four key issues of trade, immigration, energy and globalism (foreign policy and anti-isolationism) he will be a tremendous improvement.

By letting millions back into the country and bankrupting the NATION's medicare vs just the states? Increasing gas prices across the nation because of "green" policies? He's isolated CA from our oil production, to where we HAVE to import it, we don't have a choice and it's just driving things up and up. His policies aren't going through because they are unconstitutional; gas powered cars/mowers, gun laws, etc. He keeps trying to push through things that are against the foundation of our state and country. Talk about democracy "being threatened." He's the one who's doing it.
