I have to admit that I agree with Honcho that I think the DOJ can better allocate its resources than this. I heard there were some grandmothers praying outside of planned parenthood. That needs a task force.

It’s real simple… Don’t contemplate immutable characteristics when making hiring decisions.  Judge people based on merit.  Children understand this.

The DEI initiatives my employer undertakes involve recruitment and outreach to minorities. It offers opportunities and accommodations for people of different religions, ethnicities, disabilities, and cultures. It is well known for that. That allows for a more deep and diverse talent pool from which i can hire ON MERIT.

The threat posed is still nebulous, but my understanding is that if Trump criminalizes these initiatives, he can then withhold federal money from organizations if they are found to be "participating" based on whatever arbitrary criteria is decided upon.

If that happens, a lot of vital research grants go away, along with many jobs. Would he try to revoke CMS funding? That alone would sink any hospital or clinic reliant on those funds, which are essentially everything that isn’t a privately owned practice.

Nevermind the panic it has caused amongst employees that are immigrants, LGBTQ, or other targeted minorities.

Why do minorities need special treatment?   Why doesn't everyone have the same access to apply for jobs to provide you the deep and diverse talent pool?

I'll use one common example. I'm in Minnesota. There is a huge African population here; refugees from Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya, etc. They are majority Muslim. My employer allows them time and accommodations for them to observe their holy days and prayer times. This makes them a more desirable employer for that population. 

The flip side is that accommodating these things is sometimes a royal PITA. And there are a significant amount of people that abuse those privileges. However, we put up with that because the good outweighs the negative. It's kind of like large gov't organizations in that way. Yes, there is fraud and abuse, and we should do everything we can to prevent/punish it. But the net gain far outweighs the negative. When you shut the whole thing down, yes you are preventing fraud and waste. But at what cost?

So you're saying that before the Biden administration, your racist bosses were allowed to be racist... but now they're forced to be racist?  Interesting. 🤔

Just calling it like I see it.  Your bosses chose to avoid those types of people, before DEI.  Meaning, they were racist to not be interested in them.  Then, the Biden Administration pushes DEI and now your bosses are forced to look for them, and alienate other races.  Simply, they were allowed to be racist and now forced to be...it's actually cut and dry.  LOL   Not surprised your partisan views block you from seeing it.

This was in play long before Biden was elected. You're looking for gotcha's that don't exist. These initiatives can {gasp!} exist without 'alienating other races.' Talk about partisan views. You can't even build a decent strawman.

Then why would this matter?  Trump is removing the Biden Administration DEI initiatives.  If Minnesota wasn't using them, then it's a non-issue.  Seems like you're crying at the sky to just... well, cry at the sky.

A purple state.  Not in my lifetime.  They brought us Humphrey.  They brought us Mondale.  They are the blue in the red map of Reagan.  You cannot begin to understadn 'Sotans until you have lived among them for a decade or more, and even then you probably will not even if you are shacking up with one of their women, can learn to stomach lutefisk, and have your own Icehouse  you put out every year on Lake Minnetonka.  They have an independant streak which is strong.
