Hardworking Americans speaking out against Republicans

Why do you keep mischaracterizing who sent this e-mail.?  OPM is the HR department of the federal government.  If I get an e-mail from my HR department I respond to it.  If you work for the federal government OPM is your HR.

Have you ever gotten an email from HR asking for a list of 5 things you accomplished last week? 😂

Emails like this don't usually come from HR directly, but it's a directive from management and HR is involved som how.

HR to leadership: We are looking for ways to cut costs and provide efficiencies. We are working with ABC Consulting to help.

Leadership: Okay, we will ask our employees to submit their weekly/monthly accomplishments and time spent on each.

Again, MY Company does it to me and I have to do it or else the consequence model is followed. Federal employees get an email asking for it on a Saturday and everyone freaks out at the audacity.

Yeah town hall question askers should just melt in despair over letting go federal workers.

As I already posted. we have a DAILY meeting where we discuss our accomplishments and immediate future goals.  We also have a weekly team meeting where we go more in depth about our projects and tasks.

Wrong again.  If Biden did this I would be just as offended an disappointed.  You assume too much without knowing what you're talking about.

Yeah, I don't believe you.

If it came from OPM but Biden's appointee was directing it, there wouldn't be this outrage.

If there is a federal employee that I pay for that isn't willing to send a 5 bullet email documenting his or her work, then I don't want them doing things in the gubbermint for me.

I am very sure others could be found who will.

I'm guessing that's the idea, but I can tell you this, I would have loved to been a fly on the wall in some of those offices.

Me too. Does HR at your company ask you to submit that list? Does your company have a billionaire subcontractor go on Twitter who threatens to fire you if you don’t?

That’s the clownshoes part. 🤡

You saying you don't watch may be true, because few lefties watch their media anymore, judging by the ratings, but you get it from the biased media and if you say you don't, you are lying.  Plain and simple.

Elon is running the government like a business. Unfortunately, the business is one of those crappy private equity firms that doesn’t produce anything and lays off a chunk of the workforce to turn a short-term profit. The other problems are that he’s got conflicts of interest all over the place and the federal government isn’t a business.

Everything is great! 👍🏻

IMO, just calling it a problem is understating it.  One example is the attacks on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau right as he is starting up X Money, a digital payment system. And are we supposed to just pretend that the CFPB has done a lot of good for consumers who have been ripped off, getting over 21B dollars returned to people.

Quote

With Attack on Consumer Bureau, Musk Removes Obstacle to His ‘X Money’ Vision

Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, is widely known for amassing his fortune through Tesla, his electric car company, and SpaceX, the rocket ship company he founded.

But he started his career trying to disrupt consumer finance as a co-founder of a digital financial services company that later became PayPal. Now, he’s working to transform X.com, his social media platform, into a virtual wallet where people can send money to one another.

These types of digital payment platforms, which other tech companies like Apple and Meta also run, have come under intense scrutiny by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

But that scrutiny is likely to ease, largely because of Mr. Musk, who has been empowered by the Trump administration to reshape federal agencies like the consumer bureau.

In recent days, Mr. Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency team, which is not a formal executive-branch department, descended on the consumer bureau, gaining access to its headquarters and computer systems as part of a broader effort to dismantle it.

Last week, Mr. Musk marked the moment on X, writing, “CFPB RIP,” alongside an emoji of a gravestone.

This is very much like when Giuliani took over NYC in 94. He came in demanding accountability and productivity. There was a lot of hemming and hawing from dead wood and the unions.  They eventually got on board. It may be hard to fire some people, but it’s easy to transfer them.  Oh, you work in Queens? Not anymore. Now you work in the Bronx. Enjoy the toll. That happened.

To be honest I don’t think the email is unreasonable. I think threatening to lose your job over it is a little harsh (and I’m not sure it’s legal) but again, I don’t exactly think the public is going to be outraged by this approach.

I try not to look at everything through a partisan lens. Is it a real burden for these government employees to spend 3 minutes writing an email listing what they did last week in broad strokes? I don’t see how it is. All this complaining about it doesn’t make them look good, IMO.

Well, calling Musk a billionaire is pretty compelling, how can I argue against such sound logic?

A quick search shows that with this handle, you've referred to Musk with the adjective "billionaire" 6 times in the past two weeks.

What is the relevance of "billionaire" in a discussion about an email asking people to do a weekly report?

Well see, Musk wants to take your 300,000 net worth and add it to his 384 billion.

You’re right, his billionaire status isn’t nearly as relevant as the fact that he’s a government contractor and Don’s top donor. It’s the conflicts of interest that matter.

I’ll note that instead going forward.

So instead of "billionaire Elon Musk" he shall now be referred to as "walking, talking, spastic conflict of interest named Elon Musk."

Can we insert "alleged neo-nazi sympathizer" in there somewhere? We might need an acronym, this is getting a little wordy.

OPM is the HR wing of federal employees. They are NOT like your private company HR team. They don't hire, fire, or do any of the real HR work, because each agency, DOD, FBI, CIA, etc... have their own HR offices.

The problem is so many of you don't understand that OPM has no authority to task these other agencies. It's NOT about writing 5 task it's about tasking authority. If someone from your job who works in a completely different organization than you told you send them what you did. Would you do it? The answer is no! You would tell that guy to go sit and spin and then go to your REAL boss and ask what's up.

Anyone with a brain can see this makes the Trump team look extremely disorganized.

Trump just got his DoD and FBI directors in. Elon and his team should be coordinating with them to accomplish these goals because they hold the real power in those organizations. As of now both of them told Elon to get in line they will decide.

Ultimately Trump might tell his cabinet to let Elon do what he's doing. In which case that should have been explained before they were nominated and accepted that deal. If my boss tells me to respond to the email I will. Then and only then will I do it.

For the record, because I know a couple of retards will say something. I am on sick leave today with a sick kid.

Fair point here.   However if someone had actually said it like that, I might get behind it.  You seriously are the first and only person I have seen who makes a valid point about it.  The majority of the responses are emotional and stupid, and that's how I reacted to them.   this point is good.

You are 100% right...If someone from a completely different department asked me to document what I did for my department, I would have told him to pound sand.

As for the email and 5 task here is what Elon is doing with it.

First thing because a couple of idiots think he and his team are going to read each one. No he and his team are not reading 2.1 million emails. And people can spam the address all they want it doesn't matter. They are only wasting their own time.

AI will sort all the emails and start using logic on them. For example, It will take a GS 7 in the Education dept and compare his write-up to all other GS 7s in the same education dept (it can even go government-wide). AI will make recommendations for low performers and people not working. That logic will be reviewed and refined by Elons team. This will take 2-3 weeks of receiving these task emails before it's probably 95% accurate.

Once it's compiled, Elon and his team should be sending these lists to the respective depts. But as we've seen Elon seems to be working independently here and might just move into those dept on his own.

Again it comes down to how strong each dept head is and if Trump makes them let Elon in.

I have to admit that your two posts make an awful lot of sense here. I can tell you are speaking here with knowledge, authority and thoughtfulness.

It bothers me that someone with your obvious intelligence could be a virulent anti-Semite. I shouldn’t care but I do. I wish you would apply your thinking skills to that area of your beliefs as well.

Yes people are very angry. I see both sides.

There is a lot of waste. I tried to fire someone last year but ultimately they moved her to a different dept. Another guy took the buyout before I could process his paperwork. These are people who have been working in this office I was moved to for years. I was moved to try and clean it up, but Doge might do a lot of that for me.

That being said the vast majority of people I work with are good people who do their job. They are people with families, bills, and homes. All these people losing their jobs will hurt their local economy. It will have trickle-down effects.

I also see why trimming the fat is a good thing.

I have plenty of service time and have only ever received top ratings. I am not worried, but I could get caught in a larger net so I'm not 100% safe.
