Federal immigration authorities arrested a Palestinian activist Saturday who played a prominent role in Columbia University’s protests against Israel, a significant escalation in the Trump administration’s pledge to detain and deport student activists.

Mahmoud Khalil, a graduate student at Columbia until this past December, was inside his university-owned apartment Saturday night when several Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents entered and took him into custody, his attorney, Amy Greer, told The Associated Press.

Greer said she spoke by phone with one of the ICE agents during the arrest, who said they were acting on State Department orders to revoke Khalil’s student visa

I can’t find any evidence that he has called for the genocide of Jews. (And please don’t bring up the “River to the Sea” line because that’s not what it means. Come up with something more specific.) 

But I want to be clear that even if Khalil DID call for the murder of all Jews I would defend his right to do so, just as I would defend @Cdub100’s right to spread HIS Jew hatred. Because I believe in free speech. I don’t think free speech should be limited for someone here on a student visa. I think everybody who comes here, no matter how, should have the right to say what they want.

He is an invited guests here on a VISA. He organized violent protests which advocated for a terrorist organization Hamas.  Hamas attacks and kills people and takes hostages.   In October 2023 they attacked and killed over 1200 Jews and took 200 hostages.    He is not a citizen and does not have protected rights.   The executive branch has Constitutional authority to protect our borders and thst includes who we allow to be in our country.  There is nothing authoritarian about that.

As I said to Gutter yesterday, exercising your 1A rights does not include cementing the sewers and other acts of vandalism, nor does it include terrorizing (yes, that's what it is) the Jewish community at Columbia.

Can you provide evidence of this? Specifically the violent part? If he encouraged violence in any way that would change my mind on this whole affair and cause me to agree with the government’s action. But I can’t find evidence that this is the case.
